Thursday March 11, 2010--Daily Quote

Good Morning... I'm doing this daily now come hell or high water so I'm changing the format a bit.

I invite folks to use the daily quote as a springboard for discussions.  I also am open to suggestions for quotes... AND not opposed to someone else starting the day off if they have one.. I just tend to be early  most days; Although that will changing as my AM gym time increases.

It's a most gorgeous Spring day this morning.  The sunrise was STUNNING.

Julie is on my mind.   If you read this Julie know that you are in my thoughts...

The quote today does not come from Quote Garden (which is where i tend ot find a lot of our quotes) but rather it is one of my FAVORITE  Spock/Star Trek quotes.  It's from the episode  Amok Time (where spock experiences Pon Farr (every 7 years Vulcans HAVE to mate or go insane) and "kills" Kirk.

After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.

Morn'in , just spoke with Julie and she is doing better than expected. She is finding solace in knowing that her Mom is without pain, and is at peace. Dealing with all the details, plans and family is a little much sometimes, but she is hanging in there!

Anyway,even though I am NOT in any way shape or form a Star Trek fan, I do enjoy this quote. I had to read it a couple of times  but I like it, Thanks,  Leslie:)

Since I first heard it in 1967 (my dad was a Star Trek fan when I was a kid that's how I first got exposed to it now I'm much more of a treker than he ever was).... I've heard it over and over and over again Amok Time is one of my favorite episodes...  And I admit to a Spock Crush as a kid.  Now I see Leonard Nimoy and think  "old Jewish guy from Florida"...

Basically what happens is that the woman he's supposed to marry challenges him so she can marry someone else and when he gives her to him  that's what he says to him...   

it's all about the disappointments we go through when we get what we THOUGHT we wanted/needed

I like today's quote... I always want what I don't have... and often discover I never really wanted it... ugh!

Nessa, thank you so much for caring. Your kind words have helped me so much. The arrangements are done and all went well. Mom looked great considering the HELL she has lived through the past month. I was comfortable seeing her and I said goodbye for the last time in this life. I know she will be around us all and I am content knowing that.  Thanks again.
