Submitting for insurance approval today!
Yay! This is the step that had me biting my nails! But I was lucky enough to find out my answer in 24 hours...I wish you a speedy process too! In fact, it was the insurance company who told me my date - they had scheduled it with my surgeon's office when giving approval!

They did? Oh thats pretty cool, although I kind of want to choose my date with my surgeons office because I have some weddings in the next month or two that I have to be upright and present for. We both have Empire! Ok, so lemmie pick your brain again, will ya?
I was told they are submitting today (surgeons office). I dont know what time. When should I call BCBS? Is there a specific department I should ask or should I just ask the first Cust SVS Rep who answers. My company has a fairly good Cust svs system in place for when we call, but Ive been told by my surgeons office never to trust the first person you get on the phone with an insurance carrier - haha. Then...how long should I wait before I call again or will they call me (BCBS)? Thanks Bernice!

I had BCBS too - and I called the next day. I explained to the customer service rep what I was calling about, and she put me in touch with my case manager, who literally called me back in 10 minutes explaining I had been approved and she had already spoken to the surgeon's office.
I didn't get to pick a date merely because my surgeon only does surgery in my area one day a week and he books fast, so I had to go with what I got and I didn't argue it. I'd waited too long (six months!) to get my date! I had originally been told the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and they actually moved it up to the 10th of November so I submitted the final paperwork to my doc on 10/22, they submitted to BCBS on 10/23, I got approved on 10/24 and surgery on 11/10. It was a whirlwind!
