New Update - STILL in GBMC

Hi Everyone,

First, thank you so much for your continued thoughts and prayers.  You don't know how much it means to me.  So, I've had all but one test, x-rays, ultrasound, CT scan, and MRCP along with enough blood draws that I've lost count - over 12.  I still don't have my hepatitis results back.  They are saying the lab is being weird, training or something.  However, my liver panel has improved greatly.  One level is completely back to normal and the other two have been trending down satisfactorily.  So I thought the pain I still had was residual soreness from having been inflamed.  Nope, now my pancreatic levels are seriously elevated.  I can't believe this.  So now tomorrow I have to have an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).  That's a mouthful, huh?  Literally, because they'll be putting an endoscope down my throat.  I was a bit upset because I read on one of the med sites that you are awake but lightly sedated to be able to do what they say.  I don't want to have something shoved down my throat while I'm awake!!!!  So the CNP came to talk to me and told me her experience with the procedure, she had it here, and pretty much had the same thing: lots of pain, old gall bladder surgery.  She said scar tissue was holding down the bile duct.  They were able to release it and she's fine.  I am hoping it's just something like that.  The doctor also said that if they have to put a stent in one of the ducts because they are in spasm, they can do that then too.  It's good that it's not just diagnostic.  They can fix anything they find while they are in there, unless of course, it's some big tumor or something, which I don't think is even being considered.

So I thought this morning that I was being sent home, now I'm here for another day and another procedure.  I sure hope this solves it.  I'm getting sick of this.  I lost it this morning, crying, telling Kevin I just want to go home.  This has been a tough one.

Thanks for letting me vent.

(((hugs))) Terri,

I really hope this procedure finally solves the mystery going on w/ you. I can't imagine being in that situation. I think it is normal to lose it LOL. One day you'll be outta there and back to normal. just keep thinking that and eventually you'll get there.

(((hugs))) again!

I would be losing it as well... on top of the stress of not know what is wrong they poke you prod, you and everything else... You just pray for peace and quiet... but are so bored you want to do SOMETHING - just not with the nurses and staff!!

Wanting to run is normal...

Good Luck!!  Hope this last test is the end of it and you are home in your own bed soon!

Thanks everybody.  I'll be taken down at 11:30, procedure at 12:30, takes about an hour then an hour in recovery, so I should be back in my room, but still in la-la land by 2 p.m.

Terri,

I had an endoscopy done in January with the twilight sedation and don't remember a thing.  Now granted mine only took probably 10-20 minutes and only involved looking for and locating the ulcer, yours is different and I'm not sure what it entails.  If it's anything like mine, they'll spray a numbing spray into the back of your throat and then administer the sedation.  You'll have some kind of mouth guard inserted, which I believe keeps you from biting down on the endoscope cable.  That is the last thing I remember.  The next was waking up in recovery, groggy but in no pain, and oh so happy that I could have something to drink.  I'll hope that yours goes just as well!!!

Continued prayers,
Heather
