Hey Everyone,

I have been lurking around for a while, lol. I just wanted to officially say HELLO.

I have decided to to start my process with the Gastric. I am up to meeting 3 w/ my nutritionist. Its so hard to believe that I'm already 1/2 way done with that part.  I'm having a hell of a time giving up ginger ale.

Overall I'm getting mentally prepared for the journey ahead.

The time is going to fly if you are half-way there - lol - take the time to read up and educate yourself so you are prepared for the journey of your life.  Start weaning the gingerale and replacing it with water or something sugar-free.   Good luck to you.

Hello and Good Luck!
I had a really hard time giving up diet coke... When my husband informed me I was never going to do it, it irked me and I did it cold turkey that same day...  It took about 3 weeks before the cravings stopped, but once they did I then moved on to give up diet iced tea and went totally non carbonated and no caffeine before surgery... so glad I did!  I don't miss it at all now, but I am one of the lucky ones!

Hi there and welcome to the Maryland board.  I used to drink several diet ginger ale's a day.  I gave up all carbination (as well as caffeine) several months before surgery so that I would be used to it and would not be going through withdrawals right after surgery.  Honestly, I don't miss it.  Crystal Light, G2, propel, and herbal teas are what I subsist on now and it's great!

Congrats on being 1/2 way through your pre-op nut meetings.

Welcome! Halfway there is pretty good! Doing the 6 month program helps give you time to adjust to some of the changes you will need to make. At least that has been true for me. Glad to have another newbie/preop on here like me!
