Dr. Moein admitted me to GBMC Last Night
Hi Everyone,
I have been having pains on an off in my upper right quadrant that seemed to get better with Rolaids Plus. Then on Thursday, I had an attack that lasted 4 hours, dull achy, cramping pain through to my back. It finally went away. Last night at dinner with friends I had the worst attack I've ever had, worse than my worst gallbladder attack before I had it removed in 1999. I knew it had to be something either with my liver or a duodenal ulcer. I called Dr. Moein and he said if it didnt' get any better, to make my way down to the GBMC ER to get checked out. He was on call and they would get in touch with him. I got back in a room right away but had to wait quite a long time to be seen by a doc. My pain was off the charts! I never felt like that before. So after a chest x-ray, two abdominal x-rays, an ultrasound and a CAT scan, and 6 different blood draws...I have somehow contracted viral hepetitis! OMG! Dr. Moein said you can't ususally pinpoint where the exposure was, but it is very likely food-born. So, they've been keeping me comfortable with anti-nausea meds and Dilaudid. After these last two special blood tests come back, they will develop a treatment plan. Sure explains why I have been so very tired these past couple of weeks. I could barely stay on the recumbent bike for 15 minutes and I've been sleeping long hours.
So, please keep me in your thoughts and hope that I don't have any permanent liver damage.
Terri
