Frozen snow crab

I just bought a bag of frozen snow crab clusters from Food Lion ($3.99/lbs..thanks for the heads up Angie!). So my dumb question for the day is are they already fully cooked? I'm guessing I can just throw them in a pot with a couple inches of water and steam them to heat them??? I've only ever bought them from Giant and had them steam them for me, so I'm lost. LOL Thanks in advance!

I think that's the way everyone does them, Brandi.  I'm going to get some this weekend, too, and dump some vinegar in the water and some Old Bay on them!

*gasp* you ruin then. What's wrong with just dipping them in butter or plain? LOL

Old bay and pizza,, burgers, salads, eggs,, these are just the beginning,, yup pretty much everything.

quick quiz,, who orginially made Old Bay,, and what German company had no idea what they had on their hands,, and sold it?

If those aren't enough clues,,, I really miss that smell in Owingsmills.

Tom - no clue?  I know I smell all sorts of stuff in OM but am not sure which company you refer to?  (ok, truth be known, i'm not a native Baltimore-ian...)

Brandi - yes the snow crab legs are all pre-cooked.    I do just that to heat them - I usually let them sit on the counter 30-60 mins or so to thaw a bit then I throw them in a steamer for about 6-8 minutes until hot but not soft shells. once those shells get soft they are such a b*tch to bust open. lol.  Sometimes the 'body' meat is still a bit cold, but I'm okay with that since they are fully cooked.

I know some folks will put them in the microwave or oven or even on the grill but I keep steaming because I like to make sure they are nice and moist.

Enjoy!  I'm going to have mine tomorrow. :)  I can't pass up a buy like that and FL seems to have that price every other month or so.

Thanks for the tip!  I'll definetly tell my husband (he's the shopper and cook)!  And I agree, KBS-TIA... Old Bay ROCKS everything!

I toss mine in the microwave,,  60seconds,,as well as King crab, There is enough moisture inside to produce steam, and the shells stay hard. And  it is quick!!!!

Baltimore Spice,, (by the Sams and Walmart) used to make Old Bay,, the smell of it was amazing, you could smell it all the time. FUCHS bought Baltimore Spice,,  they were focused on large orders and stopped making OB, McCormick jumped right on it and bought OB from FUCHS.  I did a FIOS jobs a while bach for a guy who was some sort of bigwig with FUCHS, and admitted they had no clue what or how big OB was.
