So frustrated!

I thought that losing weight would make clothes shopping more enjoyable, or at the least easier. Boy, was I ever wrong! It was easier when I was a size 32! I knew what fit and could just grab and go. I went to Old Navy today to treat myself to a new pair of jeans it wasn't anywhere near as exciting as I thought it would be. I tried on 6 different pairs and none of them fit me right. It's like I'm in this weird in-between size. The 18's were too big and the 16's fit, but gave me muffin top. I don't even know where to begin to shop for clothes. This is the smallest I've ever been, so all I know is Lane Bryant and Avenue. If you have any suggestions of what stores/cuts/brands might work for me, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Hmmmm good question.  I am cheap and get a lot of my jeans at Wal Mart.  I typically find clothes tho at Fashion bug or Kohl's. - always in the plus size dept tho. Am not yet to the stage of shopping regular stores.  Congrats tho that you no longer need the plus sizes. WOOT!!

I have one of them and never thought to try wearing that when I tried the jeans on. Thanks, Nessa! :)

Hi everybody.  My name is Laura, & I live in Bel Air, Maryland.  I am not new to this site, however, somehow all the time I let pass by, my information got lost.  I think I am going on my fourth year of having had the Lap-Band surgery.  I am at a stand still, and have been for about 1.5-2 years.  I have even gained about 12 lbs back.  I started at almost 290 lbs., and now weigh about 193 or so.  I don't feel much restriction anymore, and can eat whatever I want.  I have gone to the Doctors to get, I'd say, 5 or  more fills, and even one visit, he took some saline out, as I was vomiting at night.  I still have very bad GERD, and when I tell him that, he automatically thinks my band is too tight! It's not! It doesn't even work anymore!! I can't see him as much as I would like because I don't have the insurance I once had.  I am depressed, I cry a lot, and I can't seem to get this last 40-50 lbs off! People tell me how great I look, but to me, I still look fat.  A am in a 12-14, and I want to be at least an 8.  My skin sags between  my thighs (which is the worst) even pinches me when I sit on the toilet...Sorry for being graphic, but it's true.  I am about to give up totally, tell him to take it out, & who knows what.  I'm sick and tired of this.  My hair is even still falling out, and yes, I take my vitamins & then some.  Does ANYONE feel the same as I do? Please help me...:(

Sincerely,
Laura

Welcome back, Laura.  I'm a recent VSG, so I can't help you much with your lapband issues.

But maybe you should ask about a revision? Or at least to remove the lapband and loose the rest on your own.  Try the same liquid diet from the beginning and go from there.  Also, for your hair loss, my surgeon recommended Biotin, maybe you can try it.

As you may remember, this site is very supportive!  So I'm sure someone with more experience can help you more. However you posted this as a response to anothers frustrated post. Maybe you should try reposting this to the Main or this MD Message Board as New Topic.

Hang in there, and may you get better, Better & BETTER!

Laura, I am so sorry you are having to deal with all these issues. I have not had surgery but battle with weight everyday. I can feel your pain and see you are so sad. I hope that you can speak to your doc and explain all of these problems and he should be able to help you. I have heard good things about him. I know of several banders who I know would help you and one is sugarfreecandy and the other in Gingerma. They have did well with their bands. I also know that we all have ups and downs and things need to be tweaked from time to time. Please hang in there and I will pm you soon. Good luck.
