On average, how much weight should a person lose monthly after WLS?

I'm feeling really confused and frustrated, and I thought someone further along than 3 weeks could answer this.

I have a dr.'s appt, tomorrow (TG), but Im just curious.

I've seen some crazy numbers, and then I've see small numbers, I just want an idea.

TIA,
Jabreel

while everyone is different this is what I was told:

Month 1 --- 20-ish pounds lost
Months 2-6 --- 7-10ish pounds lost
After Month 6 --- 5-7ish pounds lost -- or whatever the heck  your body feels like doing

There is no magic number.  We are all different.  Some lose faster than others.  I, for one, am a slow loser and have followed a very strict regime from day one.  Others have dropped 100 pounds in 4 months or so.  Stay off the scale at home -- it will make you crazy!!  Let us know you do tomorrow after your appointment.

I agree there's no magic number.  I average 17 pounds per month for the time being.  I have some weeks where I lose none at all, and some weeks where I drop a bunch.  I had a stall at 3 weeks out that lasted about 2 weeks.  I had another one last month.

Don't look at how much others are losing...you'll get to learn your body and how it reacts to things.

Thank you guys!

I know I soud like a broken record, but I just don't know if I'm doing anything wrong, or what. Like I didn't know that pasta, bread, and......there's something else, are items that I should stay away from. I haven't had any of those, but I didn't know. Just like most people say you shouldn't eat crackers, where the nurse told me to start eating them.  I just feel a little confused and lost right now. I'm not doing great with the protein drinks because of the milk, and I plan on going to the Vitamin Shoppe this afteroon to pick up some Nectar products hoping that will help.  Also, today they have a nutrition class at my Dr.'s office and I'm praying I can attend and my regular appt. doesn't go over.

I feel fine otherwise....and you guys are alllllllll right when you say to stay off the scale....that thing is going to be the death of me.

I so identify with you!! I remember those days where I was weighing myself 3 or 4 times a day.  I would tell you to weigh only one time a day.  I agree with everyone else, that we are all different and we shouldn't judge our success on the success of someone else.  That being said, easier said than done.  As women we are always judging ourselves on other women.  I was one of those that thought I was loosing too slowly, but by the time 6 months rolled around, I was were I was supposed to be and I was pleased and the Dr. was pleased.

Did I ever reach my goal? no.  That is why I am back here asking for support.  What I will tell you is to never to stop weighing yourself.  People told me to stay off the scale and that I was looking too thin.  Don't listen to them.  It started me back in a direction where I don't want to go.  Rely on the wisdom of your doctor and if you have one, the nutritionist and do what you are told, so you don't have to do it for a second time.

Sorry ~ I'll get off of my soap box now.  This is just where I'm at right now and I am banging my head against the wall for not "doing it right" the first time.  Kind of like a mother ~ do what I say, not what I do.  Hope this helps.

And . . . by the way, I think you are doing great!!!
