Heaven Sent Strangers...

I went to my support group last night at JHBMC and meet a couple of people who I have to say inspired me. They do not know it but they did!  It was just their attitude toward life. They were pre-op and asking about losing weight before surgery.  I gave them some pointers that I followed. What I thought would a 5 minute conversation turned into and hour.

Anyone else get inspired by complete strangers?

Absolutely!

And I'm so glad you got to a meeting last night!  You're almost there!

Less than two weeks now!  I'm excited for you!

Yes, and in the same venue - at a pre-op support group meeting.  Post-op, I spoke at many info sessions and support groups - that's a great way of paying it forward.

Good luck!!!!!  We've heard ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL about you, and are looking forward to you joining us on the loser's bench!!!  LOL!!!

I am inspired daily by strangers and by the people on this board!!!  Because there is always someone else out there in this big old world that has it worse off that me!!!

Good luck.

Yep...I experienced that at my information session at Bayview and then from the people on this board, those that I've met IRL especially, but from many that I have not even met.

Great news that you got that support group out of the way and can now go forward with surgery.  We were kept up-do-date by B!

Best wishes,
Heather

Hi and Welcome!
The day of my 1st apt with my Dr,( my consultation) I was sitting in a packed waiting room. After about 10min. people started talking, and the girl next to me asked me why I was there. I told her that I wanted to have lap band surgery for a long time and I was finally ready to do it. She then talked to me about VSG(sleeve) I had no idea what this was, I had never heard of it! She had all the stats, the good points, the not so good points, and how successful people had been with very little side effects. Shortly after I was called back, and when Dr Li asked me what she could do for me, I replied that I was there to get VSG( sleeve!) The rest is history, 7 weeks later I was sleeved, and to his day I am so grateful to this girl, I only wish I had taken her name, maybe she is reading this, if so please contact me, I am forever thankful, you have saved my life!  AND, my Mother told me not to talk to strangers! Ha!  Good Luck, Leslie:)

Everyone here WAS a stranger to me less than a year ago,,, does that count?  Many of the folks here that inspired me I still have never met in person.
