 Hey Everyone,
I was wondering what vitamins you decided to use after your RNY surgery.  I am thinking of going with the Bariatric Advantage vitamins because that is what my Nut said was the best; but just wanted to get some opinions before I jumped in and bought something.
Just to let everyone know I HATE CHERRY, anything CHERRY, so if it only came in CHERRY, it wont work for me.
THANKS!!

I use Barriatic advantage for my multi vit.  (tropical fruit flavor due to the higher ADEK) and also the calcuium lozenges (which do come in cherry but also mint, chocolate and cinnamon)

my D3 I get at the vitamin shop
my iron and b12 I get at walmart

I hate Cherry, too... anything Cherry, but I don't mind the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Lozenges.  Have you tried them?  They really aren't bad at all... I actually look forward to them.  Sad I know!  LOL

I did Bariatric Fusion for the first 7 months after surgery.  I have now moved on to One A Day (non chewable) but take 2 a day...  I also do Calcium Petites 3 times a day.  And of course my monthly B12 shot.  For now my labs came back good at 10 months (PCP request) and Dr. A was happy with where my levels are - hoping that holds true at 1 year when i do them fore him...

I use the nutrametrix vitamins. They dissolve in water so you only have to take them in the am and in the pm.  I did the bariatric adv ones right after surgery. The cherry is pretty tart, not a true cherry flavor. Plus the chewable iron in lemon/lime, also really tart and the multi in tropical.I got my B12 from the vitamin shop and my vitamin A & D I had to be on.  I didn't like having to chew so many vitamins all day so I tried the Nutrametrix and love it. It's a cap ful of multi, 2 cap fulls of calcium in the am in 6oz of water. 10 mins later I can take my iron and B12 because the calcium is already a digested form. Then I take another capful of calcium in 2oz of water before I go to bed.  Easy peasy. My nutritionist recommeded them and the representatives come to our monthly meetings.  The bariatric adv vits cost me about $105 a month, nutrametrix is $75 for 3 months.

Hey there,

My surgeon recommended Centrum early out I did liquid, for the calcium I had the liquid Tropical Oasis and when I was allowed to swollow pills I switched to calcium citrate Equate brand (Walmart) and I just take a multivitamin from walmart.  I have been doing great with those vitamins and my levels are always great.  I had low vitamin D from even beofre having my RNY so I take a vitamin D daily and that level is perfect too.

As far as the bariatric advantage they are nasty to me.  I can tolerate it at all so I stopped using them. My husband hates them too but he took them for a while.  I just couldn't/

Wishing you all the best.

Cira

Thank You for all of the info everyone! I am going to stick with the Bariatric Advantage vits, and suck it up about my dislike for cherry (the only thing I have to worry about is B-12 and all makers of B-12 only seem to have cherry flavor) Although I have only looked online so far, since we have been snowed in and not to the stores in awhile.

I have a month to get it all figured out!

Thanks again
