Easter Shore Support groups?

 Hello! does anyone know about support groups on the eastern shore of MD? Im having my surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayside in Baltimore , Md (3 hours away) but would love to/need to find a support group close to home. I contacted a group at PRMC and was told I had to be a group member (having my surgery there) to participate. Any suggestion? thanks all!

Hi and welcome to the Maryland board.  There used to be one that met in Easton but it does not any longer.  I don't know of any out here any more and the closest one in Maryland, I think, is in Crofton.  You may find one closer in Delaware.

This board is awfully supportive and the collective knowledgeable and experienced.

Unfortunately, you may have asked the wrong people, in Salisbury, about support meetings.  Support meetings don't have to be held at the hospital. There're new, upcoming things, at PRMC, for example, another group of Drs. will soon be doing the surgery, probably beginning in May.  This is a well known group of general surgeons, well established, for many yrs., there. One of the Dr. in the group will be starting the surgery, probably in May.  Also, there may be a Dr., at St. Agnes that may begin doing seminars, in the area, offering surgery and support. I drove all the way from Ocean City, to St. Agnes, to my Dr. and have never regreted it!  Hang in there, something will probably begin, soon, as there's an increased need and desire, in the area, for this.

Hi and congrats on your surgery! I had mine at Johns Hopkins Bayview almost 4 years ago! I run the Crofton Support group and I dont know how far that is for you but we have a meeting coming up February 15th from 6:00 - 7:30
