Insurance Approval

 Hey Everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed (if you like the snow) the snow storm!
So Friday, I got a call from Carefirst BCBS (my Insurance co) from a Case Manager, who wanted to ask me questions before I had my up-coming surgery! I told the woman I spoke to that I had not received a call from my surgeons office saying I had been approved yet; She then told me that if my account had been referred to her, that the surgery has been approved and everything is good to go!  So I am excited to hear that, but nervous that I still haven't heard anything from Dr. Averbach's office (although, I did get this call on Friday, So maybe I will hear tomorrow) I am just wondering if anyone has had a case manager call them before surgery.

THANKS!
 -Stephanie

Hello Stephanie,
I am at about the same place as you, except that my surgeons office has not submitted my info for approval. I am crossing my fingers that it will all go out on 2/8. How long did it take from submission to acceptance (well you hearing from the ins.) I have an apt with the surgeons office and I still dont know that I am approved.
I would assume in your case, that the ins. probably approved it and starting their part before your Dr. could have a chance to call you back. I bet you will hear from them tomorrow. If it we me though, I would be calling the moment the office opens tomorrow...
At any rate, good luck...

 Hi Stephanie,
My Info was all submitted on January 18th, it took longer than the surgeon's office seem to have expected (everyone seemed suprised the last time I called them that the insurance hadn't given approval yet) But It turns out I had a little Issue because my employer has a Feb-Feb contract year for insurance, and I am due to get a new Insurance card (because of a change in co-pay amounts, still the same plan though) and that was slowing things down...weird, (at least to me) but true.

I cannot tell you for sure how long it will take in your case, but that has been my experience so far.  When you go to your appointment, just ask them how long it usually takes with your insurance company, I was told 2 weeks or less.
Hope all goes well for you, and yes I will be calling my Surgeon's office promptly at 9am tomorrow!

Thanks for the support, but not quite time for Congratulations yet...Called the Surgeons  this morning and was told the insurance company said that my approval was still pending... and the reason that The insurance people called me was because the Dr.'s office gives a dummy date with the surgery approval letter and info, which is apparently approaching...very dissapointed today.

Hmm... once I got the approval letter with the dummy date it meant I just had to wait on the insurance and surgeon's office to get on the same page!  I got to schedule my surgery the following day - good luck!!

Hey :) Congrats! I have no idea cause I'm still not even sure they've submitted for approval yet, but I'm with Dr. A as well and I wanted to say hello.
