confused
I am totally confused and concerned about cobra.
The quotes I got from my employer is that the 35% i should be be paying or is my portion 35% of that? Also when open enrolment comes around in april and if they have wls surgery covered will i be entitled to the same coverage? What if I have a problem with the company that administers the COBRA coverage? I have researched the company (Conexis) and have found many problems like being canceled for non payment when payments were made well in advance and then reinstatement either being denied or delayed. I can't afford to be with out medical coverage. Any one have any advice or information?

Lori, I am sorry you have to deal with this mess. I can't really help but I would try to speak to someone who can answer the questions that are driving you crazy. Are you able to contact a real person who can help you? This I think would be the best bet. I hope you can get some answers. Good luck. Keep the faith.

When I payed into Cobra between jobs I payed my company and they payed BC/BS as if I was still a part of the group. It was VERY expensive! I could not afford with three kids to go without and I didnt want any of my pre exitsting conditions to be denied because I had major knee and back surgeries and if you lapse your new insurance can deny any pre existing conditions for a period of time(??) If you don't lapse then the new company has to keep you covered. I hope you can keep your coverage.

Lori the HR department where you just worked should be able to answer each and every one of those questions very clearly.
also, for open enrollment, will there be an additional policy to chose from, or will the new insurance contract replace the existing one? if it's an additional policy to chose from, will you be able to make a choice or are you 'stuck' with the one you have now?
