Any one know of a good PCP in the Ellicott City/Columbia Area?
I am not thrilled with mine (in my one week post op appointment with him he wouldn't have even looked at my incisions if my wife hadn't insisted upon it) and am ready to make a change. I figure if someone here knows of a doc who has some familiarity with the issues we face as WLS patients I'd be a step ahead of the game. I am looking to stay fairly local - I figure I'll blow of PCP visits if it's too much of a PIA to get to (I am a guy after all, that's what we do.)
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

I made my PCP jump between getting ready to submit to the insurance and actually having surgery... But that said, I love my new doctor and wouldn't trade her for the world. When I was having complications after surgery I called her cell phone in tears - she took time from her vacation to call me and even stopped at the hospital (she does not do rounds, etc.) before going home from vacation to check on me...
She is on Rt. 40 (Is that Ellicot City, someone who knows this area help?) she is in the same building as Dr. Averbach - 700 Geipe Rd... aka Seton Medical Group... They call her Dr. Usha but her full name is Usha Vemulakonda. Phone number 410-368-8750...

My PCP that I started the process with left her practice to go teach at Johns Hopkins and my insurance would not cover there... So I was stuck with the lady that took over her patients - and we just did NOT see eye to eye. I stuck it out to get my 6 months diet weigh ins done - I was half way through when Susan Renda left Clinical Associates... The new nurse practitioner thought I was to young to have surgery (30) and kept saying I should be able to do it without surgery... HELLO, I did not get to over 400 pounds doing it myself...
I left her practice not be choice, had she been supportive of me, I would have not gone searching for a new doctor when I did - but I am glad I did...
I have been going to the Columbia Medical Practice for four years, and can honestly said I would NOT reccomend them to anyone. With that being said, my surgon gave me a name of a great Doctor which is very familiar with the RNY in Ellicott City I will be switching to very soon.
I will keep you updated with his name and contact info.
