Good Morning Everyone,

Some of you may already know that there are new links to share posts to Facebook, MySpace, Google and Twitter on most, if not all of the forums, including the Band Grads forum that is a private forum you can't join until you're a year out from lap band surgery, and the cardinal rule is that no posts on that forum can be shared anywhere.  (The original premise was for the vets to share issues and problems without scaring newbies.)  Anyway, please be aware that it appears anything you post on OH can now be carried over to the social networking sites by anyone viewing it, so if you think you are  insulated over here because you have a "friends only" or "private" profile, that may no longer be the case.  Many people are angry.  I think whoever came up with this idea just didn't think it through as far as possible ramifications to people, especially people who may need to avoid contact from former people in their lives, such as violent exes, who they know for a fact are on one of those sites.  I don't think we should all be an "angry mob.".  Please just e-mail EricKlein, the founder, to let him know if you disagree with this new tool.  I hope that they will then realize this was not well thought out, and remove the sharing links.  You can find Eric's profile page at the link below.

While everyone is very upset NOTHING has changed other than it's now EASIER to link.   Seriously this is a wide open board and anyone can cut and paste the link into facebook or wordpress or myspace and it automatically links.

Now there's a button that makes it EASIER.  removing the button does not remove the ability to link.

Teri thanks for posting this! I saw those little icons yesterday. This Forum is open to ALL even if you are not a member, you can go on the MD forum (or any of them on here) and read what EVERYONE posts, even if you have blocked someone from your posts.

But I do agree this is going a little to far to be able to link it to the social networking sites!!!!!!

Terri, thanks for posting this. It is amazing what technology will do for you. Isn't it. I think this has gone a little to far. I have heard that there is gsooip, rumors and lies that are started on those sites. I guess this can happen any where.

FYI:  You can also Google your screen name and topic, and you'll find your post there too.  Nothing is really private on the Internet.  You have some privacy settings regarding profile, pictures, but the Internet is basically an open book.
