Doctor's Appt Today

I went to see my PCP today. They wanted me to come back in since my Vitamin D levels were so low.  I've been taking Rocal Trol for my hypoparathyroidism since I was six years old and always assumed they only come in capsules. So, I was afraid this was part of the problem. My little pouch probably can't break down the capsules.  Well, it turns out they actually make this treatment in a liquid form now.  Awesome!  On top of that, I bought some liquid Vitamin D. So hopefully my Vitamin D levels will be up to snuff in no time.  I'm still working on my iron deficiency, but they don't see the need for IV iron just yet thank God!  I found some really good chewable iron, so I'm hoping they will work.

Oh, and he was amazed that I lost 13lbs since I was in there a week and a half ago lol.

Is it wrong to have a crush on your doctor? hahahha  He kept calling me sweetie and telling me I looked fabulous.

P.S. If you don't know what hypoparathyroidism is, google it lol. It's really rare and the way I am, if it's rare I end up with it.

Great news!

It's just a suggestion but you may want to check with vitalady (vitalady.com) about the Vitamin D.  I'd think that liquid is absorbed properly, but I keep reading that the proper form is Dry D.   I know the oily capsules that are prescribed for folks with a D deficiency are not absorbed and should not be taken by post-ops.

Pre-op my Vit D was in the teens.  I had been taking Rx D for 1.5 years (I started with Vit D = 7).  In October, just before my surgery, I started taking an over the counter and in 3 months, my D is up into the 50s.

Here is what I got:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001J8JSYQ/ref=wms_ohs_product_img

Hope this helps!

Kris this sounds way to familiar. I was taking the RX V-D and it did not absorb properly. My nut switched me to V-D by now foods and it has gotten much better. She said the V-D with Erefercol does not absorb right and that is what most RX V-D is made from. She said the V-D from Cholecalcferol is absorbed better. I get so confused by all these vitamins.

Thanks Kris! I actually have some of that too, but my D was still low.  I've always struggled with it, not just since WLS.  Hopefully something will help! :)

sounds good Lisa.   My D is tanked now too.  I'm taking D3 twice a day I may up it to 3 times when I talk to the doctor.
