Hi All,

I've been struggling with my weight for years...and I am so glad to have found this website.

I got a call from GBMC on Tuesday that my insurance has approved me to have surgery!!

I have my first appointment on Monday, January 25.

Can anyone tell me what I can expect at this appointment, and what other things I can expect to happen in the coming weeks?

I cannot speak from experience about GBMC because I had surgery somewhere else, however I did want to wish you many congrats on your approval and send you warm welcome

I am not sure where you are in your process but I had my approval before all pre-op testing was completed, while others have had to complete all of that before it is admitted to the insurance company. Soooo if you have not yet went for a series of pre-op testing be prepared for that. Also be prepared for varied emotions! Its normal, don't worry!! I was excited, nervous, scared, restless, ecstatic....and all in the same day sometimes.

Welcome to the Maryland Board honey!!! (((Hugs))) You are on the right path to a whole new lifestyle that you will LOVE!!!!! Good luck on your first appt. I did not get my surgery done there but there are several on here who did...............but most first appts are more like an interview. GOOD LUCK and we are all here for you on your journey.

I had my surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview but know people who have had theirs at GBMC and have said good things about it.

Welcome and congrats on your approval! I can't really tell you what to expect since I only had my surgery at GBMC, no appointments. Good luck to you!

Can't tell you what to expect, but best of luck to you on your journey! I had my surgery with Upper Chesapeake at Harford Memorial.

Hello and welcome to the MD board. I have not had surgery so I can't help you as I am no expert. I do wish you the best and there are some helpful people here who can give some good advice. I will tell you to learn all you can and do your homework. Each person has different opinions and have had different experiences. Good luck.
