3 THINGS FOR THURSDAY

Good morning!!  This has been one of the longest weeks of my life.  Thanks again to everyone for checking on me.  I'm still REALLY sore and stiff and totally wiped out.  Sheesh!  You'd think I was the first person ever to have been involved in a car accident!  I have a pretty high pain threshold, but this is BAD.  But paperwork wise, things are moving along at a good clip, which is good.

Today, I'm grateful for:

1.  My brother - He was off yesterday, so he chauffered me around on errands.  Good thing, too, because I'm in too much pain to drive.  We cleaned out my car (sniff) and did what I needed to do, had lunch and then he took me home.  It was nice to be able to sit and talk with him - seems there's precious little time for that anymore.

2.  That although the car I loved is totalled, I'm getting a lot more for it than I had anticipated - nearly double!  That's great news since I'll be sitting at a car dealer this afternoon signing paperwork.  I think I'm getting a 2010 Honda Accord LX - it's comparable to the Sonata, and I'm getting a heck of a deal!  Thank God for my connections - they'll keep me from having to deal with car salesmen and letting me zoom right to the top.  IMO, buying a new car ranks right up there with putting my hand in a running garbage disposal.

3.  My Mom - I swear, I don't know what I'd do without her.  On Sunday, I started making the first of 400 pieces of candy for a retirement party tomorrow, and of course, the accident brought that to a halt.  So since then, she's been furiously making chocolates, and will bag them today for me.

4.  As always, my true friends!  What would life be like without someone who loves, supports and encourages you - and has your back?  Someone said yesterday, "We're all such fierce friends."  YES. WE. ARE.

5.  T-5 days and counting until Angie becomes an official loser!!  I say official, because she's LONNNNNNG been one of us!!!

Tia, again I am glad you are ok. Dont rush yourself into recovering, let it go as it should! But I know even this isnt going to keep you down! 2010 Honda....sweeeeet! I am looking at cars now, but I am leaning towards to PT Cruiser! They are soooo cute!

I had my cat scan done yesterday, should have the results tomorrow....note the word SHOULD!!!!! I dont know if I had told any of you here, but I joined a few of my closest friends, and we are joining the Avon cancer walk in DC this year! I am really scared.....40 miles!?!?!?!? But anyway, we came up with our team name last night.....Breast Friends of the Eastern Shore for Hope.....isnt that too cute?!?!?!?!

Ok, today I am grateful for:

1} my health....even tho I have had these dizzy spells now for almost 4 weeks, I am still in better health than I have been in years! Today, my jeans are a size 10!!!!! 6 months out & in  10....I cant even believe it! My RNY has been a lifesaver!

2} FRIENDS.....need I say more?

3} After months of searching I located a bakery that can duplicate my wedding cake in a sf version! I was married on Valentines Day, nd our cake was a 12 layer red velvet cake! Anyways, I found a local bakery that will make us one sugar free!!!!

I SO don't want to be car shopping, but I don't think I can go wrong with a Honda.  The PT Cruisers are cute!  Pre-op, I couldn't imagine trying to fit into one - sad that that was a criteria at some point in my life!

I LOVE the name of your crusade!!!  Isn't this the walk that Lisa Z. did last year?  I was in awe of her - and I know I will be of your and your friends.

I saw your post on the Recipe board about the s/f red velvet, and had been exploring possibilities for you.  I'm glad you found one!!  12 layers?  Wow!!!!  If you have the time, you might want to ask the bakery if they can bake a single layer for you so you can taste now - don't want to be disappointed.

I hope they get to the root of your issues - please keep us posted!

     Funny you said that about size & a car.....thats exactly why I hadnt bought one before now! I thought I was the only person who thought that way!
    I do believe that is the walk that Lisa did last year! I hd completely forgotten about that!
    The bakery that I found is making several small cakes with different recipes so I can try them prior to them making the real deal! and get this.....all of this for $45!!!!!! Plus, they will meet me in the middle so I can taste test the samples! What a deal!!!!!!
   Oh....I loved the joke you posted about the cat scan yesterday BTW!!!!

Yep, amazing how insidious and pervasive obesity is, isn't it?  So liberating to not worry about that now!!

That's awesome that the bakery is doing that!!!  I've often said I want to get married again just so I can wear purple and have cake!!!!  LOL!!!!

There is an awesome bakery here on Kent Island called Peace of Cake.  I wonder if they'd do s/f?  Hmmmm.....now I'm thinking of cake!  LOL! 

Hope it's better than the Smith Island Cake Company!!!  What a disappointment!!

No competition...NONE!  The cakes I've sampled from there are DELISH!
