Cholesterol

Can your cholesterol go UP in a matter of weeks?  Specifically, Im wondering if my eating habits over the Holidays could have caused a spike in my total cholesterol?  I follow a very heart healthy diet (no red meat or pork, whole grain only, soy, lots of fish, FF/RF dairy, ect) and my last total cholesterol (over the summer) was 195.  I just got labs back from last week and my total cholesterol is 266   O.M.G!  Im freaking out!

Will having the RNY lower & keep my cholesterol in check?

I'm not sure on how quickly it can go up but RNY should help lower it, particularly in the beginning.  To keep it in check for the long haul, I'd think that would depend upon eating habits once you are back to tolerating pretty much everything and anything.

JMHO,
Heather

yes a food fest can cause the cholesterol test to be high.

I know that for me my husband his cholesterol was 267 before surgery and it's 160 now.

Mine was about 227 before surgery and now it's 129!
