My First - "I ate way too much" moment

I forgot to bring something to work for dinner because I had to organize a baby shower.  So, I say to myself "Self, you can get Boston Market chicken is good for you". So of course you can't just order a piece of chicken and be on your way.  I got a 1/4 white meal, green beans, and new potatoes (probably a no-no).  I ate chicken first and only took a couple bites of the green beans and potatoes.  BUT.... then my weakness veered it's ugly head and here comes the BAD part.. The CORN MUFFIN! OMG I have always loved their corn muffins. I choked that thing down like there was no tomorrow. I almost finished the whole thing.  I mean, I haven't had ANYTHING remotely sweet in a month and a half. I even resisted the cupcakes from the babyshower, that I had to go out and buy.  Of course, now I'm overfilled and beating myself up!!  Back on track tomorrow. I knew I'd screw up at some point, just didn't think it would be so soon.  Time to brush myself off.

Girl, it happens. Just remember, pre-op it would have been MUCH worse, so don't beat yourself up too much. I did the same thing yesterday with pretzels. I MEANT to just grab a few and before I knew it I had scarfed down 2 big handfuls of them. Unfortunately, they don't operate on our brains while they're in there rerouting our stomachs.

Brush yourself off and get back to doing what you know is right.  Half the battle is realizing what you did and moving on!  Beating yourself up won't fix anything - move on and do better next time!
Being over filled means next time you remember how bad it hurts and will be less likely to eat so much!  Think about how much worse I could have been - could have been Mac n cheese instead of beans, or stuffing, or 2 cupcakes, etc.

Just rember where you want to be, where you came from and that you have a tool that needs to be worked!

Unfortunately I'm sure I'll do the same, I always seem to learn the hard way.

how long have you been on 'solid' foods now?  Are you tolerating everything pretty well?  I'm getting nervous, one week from today.  I love hearing of your experiences, even the ones that didn't go as planned. :)

I'm doing pretty well on soft solids. Some things I have eaten and feel super full afterwards, and others I just feel satisfied.  I haven't gotten sick from anything yet.. But I think us sleevers don't "dump" like RNY'ers. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing!

Pros and cons to everything. :)

I have read that only 50% of RNY'ers dump, but yes, VSG'ers don't typically dump. Anyone can dump (even pre ops) under the right situation but it's sooooooo rare.

yep we all do it....

ONE of the ways I avoid it is to tell them "NO muffin"  or NO BRFEAD or NO

what's not in front of me I can't eat.

I actually have gone to subway and ordered a meatball sub hold the sub part....  it confuses them but OH WELL... I need to take care of me.

Great point, Nessa! I will have to remember that next time. If I didnt have it in front of me, I couldn't eat it.  I did well enough with the cupcakes in my face. I shouldn't have pushed it! lol

LISA,
I don't know about you, but I always used to wonder what would happen if I ate too much? Well, now you know! And believe me you will remember this feeling for a very long time. I don't mean to laugh, but I find it so funny that you chose a corn muffin! Under normal situations corn muffins are so dry and hard to get down! You have to practically choke getting it down, and that is what you picked!! I think you were probably thinking about calories, sugar or something else, besides the choking factor! Please don't take offense, I am not laughing @you, it reminds me of all the boo-boos I have had. Drink a lot of water tonight, you will feel so much better in the am! Stay Well and stay away from those killer corn muffins! LESLIE:)
