new post op question (one of many)
Thanks Bernice, I'm sure she will. I thought they told me one week on mushies not a month oh boy! Oh well, just something other then broth and jello will make me happy. I took some mushed up banana today and did pretty well. Didn't taste great but but then the stuff I'd been drinking/eating. I'm going back to work on Monday, then things get interesting. :)

I was on mushies until my one month follow up, then moved to solids. However, after your first week on mushies, they have you try one regular textured food a day.
I have to be careful with banana - sometimes the sugar in it overwhelms me.
I haven't been able to eat jello since before surgery. The smell makes me want to vomit now.

Kelly.....
you dont really know if you will tolerate it or not until its in you! LOL
Milk.....ugghhh!!!!!!!!!! I drank alot of milk my whole life, I grew up on a dairy farm, so that tells ya what a milk drinker I was. I tried milk after surgery, and my gawd! I thought I was going to die! I still cant drink regular milk, I drink soy milk & tolerate it well. But everyone is different.
For the mushy stage, I ate yogurt, shrimp whizzed in the blender, sf italian ice, more yogurt, and sf pudding with added protein. I couldnt & still dont do eggs.....another food I loved prior to surgery. I also ate the baked ricotta that Tia has posted.....it is to die for!
Seafood.....I eat seafood at least once a day! I have eaten scallops, fish, crab, shrimp, soft crabs, and oysters! With most of the seafood I eat, I cook it on my foreman grill. The only one I havent perfected yet is the oysters. Seafood has good protein levels & my NUT is in favor of eating it. How much? Well, thats up to your new pouch, it will let you know!
I hope this helps ya!

Kelly,
As Brandi and others have said, it's really trial and error for each individual person. I had problems with skim milk for the first couple of months and used Almond milk instead. Unfortunately, it has a minimal amount of protein in it, so I usually drank it with my protein powders.
Other than that, I would definitely follow my nutritionists guidelines on when to add certain food items. Eventually, God willing, you should be able to tolerate anything within moderation!
Hope that helps,
Heather
