as many of you know I have been having terrible bouts of dizziness & I went for my 6 month labs & other labs ordered by my PCP. So far they have no idea whats going on with me! I am not anemic....she said my iron level was really good. The only thing she even mentioned were the following:
Total Protein: 7.1 Normal range is 6-8
Folate: 3.4 Normal range is above 3.6
Prealbumin: 15 Normal range is 18-35
And then she said they werent alarming, and she wasnt really worried about them.
I have a call in to dr. Magnesun's office....but can any of you veterans, decipher the above labs?!?!?!?!?! PLEASE!!!!!!!!
As for the dizziness, I now have a cat scan set for Wednesday....Ughhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather, The Protein is very close in range and so is your Folate. I think they are ok. The Prealbumin is used to check fo rmalnutrition as far as I know. It is not really off but a few points. Maybe this is enough to cause some of your dizziness. What did your doc tell you? I am not a doctor but from what you are saying she is not worried. I hope your other doc can shed some light on your dizziness. I know it is a miserible feeling. Good luck.

Julie.....
I asked my PCP about the prealbumin possibly causing the dizziness, and she said nope. I called my surgeon today, but got no call back.
I hope they figure it out soon! Thursday morning, I was going upstairs in our house & got real dizzy & before I knew it I was head over butt tumbling down! Not good!

Wow Heather you really must be careful. I would hate to see you with broken bones or worse. I hope I am not being to nosy but are you taking any meds that maybe should be decreased since you had WLS? I hope they can figure this out soon for you. This must be driving you crazy. I am Glad you asked your doc about the prealbumin. All looks good to me. Are you eating enough protein? I don't know what else to think. I am no doctor or WLS expert. I am just trying to help. I hope you didn't mind. Good luck. I hope that doc calls you ASAP. Keep us up to date.

Thank you so much for your care & concern.......it makes me happy to know that people here really do care. I am actually off all my pre-surgery meds.......my BP is normal now & my sugar is normal. As for protein, I could probably eat more, but I am getting in my quota.
I guess it will be figured out soon enough!
Hugs!

Heather, I hope they will find out soon what is going on. I am glad you are off all your meds. I just thought maybe a dose was to high since you have lost weight. I am happy to care. I think that is what this world is all about. Thoughts and prayers for you and your doctors.

Have they checked your ears for an inner ear infection? Just another guess.

Your labs look pretty good to me! Did they test your kidney function? creatnine?

Lisa.....
ears were fine......kidney functions, fine......creatnine, fine......
As many vials of blood as the two docs had drawn, I think they checked EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
Who knows!

That sucks Heather but you need to get to the bottom of this before the problem gets worse. Get the cat scan done then go from there and keep us posted.
