Wow!!  The weekend went by at warp speed!!!  Sheesh!!!  I had a busy, but fun weekend - what about everyone else?  Yesterday, Mom and I were supposed to make candy for my Captain's retirement party, but she was sick, so I did it until I couldn't do anymore and we're not done yet!!!

Today, I'm grateful for:

1.  Great Greek food and greater company!  Had a great meal and great conversation on Saturday.  Love, love, love Samos Restaurant.

2.  Time with my K - We went to see 2012 yesterday at the cheap Belair Road movies.  It was a good movie, a little over the top, but entertaining nonetheless!

3.  The last of the Eggnoggn tea has been found and secured for me!!!  Woo-hoo!!! I thought it was a lost cause until next Christmas!!!  Thanks, Bernice!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hee - I was glad to have found it.  I'm going to stop by again this afternoon on my way home from the cardiologist and see if they have another box for Boxer...hopefully they do!

Fast weekend for sure!  I can't believe how quickly it went.  Hopefully the next three days goes just as quickly so I can get to my VACATION!  I'm so excited.

Here's mine:

1.  Plans with my BFF this week!  She's making baby #3 and we are planning on having our pictures taken every month between now and August so she can watch me shrink and her grow!  We haven't had a picture together since highschool...not even at my wedding!

2.  Plans with my lovely husband.  Last night we cemented our plans for my vacation - Friday - Avatar, Saturday and Sunday are holy football days, and Monday we'll drive up to a museum if it isn't crappy weather.  We also sealed our valentine's plans - a day trip to Gettysburg and a picnic lunch of shrimp.

3.  Surprise phone calls from my 92 year old Aunt last night....she called me by accident but it was soooo nice to hear from her.  Can't wait to get back to VA this spring to visit her.  She's housebound now and I know she's lonely...wish I could see her more.  I know she won't be around for much longer!

4.  My size 22/24 jeans are starting to get loose!  AND I fit into restaurant booths!

Hey all:  SOunds like everyone had a busy and fun weekend.  Mine was full of family (well my wife's family) because it was our grandson's christening.  The little guy did amazingly well.  Today I am grateful for:

1.  My ability to negotiate food this weekend.  Saturday night we had the whole brood back to our house for dinner.  Thinking ahead, I made a whole big pot of WLS friendly chili (technically even works for me on my last couple of days of mushies)  I had the one serving of the chili and that was it.   Skipped the pretzels and chips and lasagna and garlic bread and dessert.  And didn't even feel deprived.  Sunday we went to brunch at Turf Valley and in the past I loved to chow down there.  Sunday I split an order of scrambled eggs with my daughter, ate half of a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes and one tiny slice of lox.  Again didn't feel bad about not chowing down - in fact it was more than enough - amazing

2.  Got up and weighed myself this morning.  The scale dipped under 300 pounds (298).  The last time I was under 300 was about 9 years ago and that was for a short period of time- I was on another of my many diets got as low as 270 and w/in a year gained 100 pounds back.  The last time I was consistently below 300 was before my 14 year old twins were born.  I know in my heart, I am here (below) to stay.

3.The little electric heater in our bedroom.  I woke up in the middle of the night to "visit the facilities" and walking back to bed I was shivering uncontrollably.  Kicked that baby on, climbed under two quilts and all was right in the world.

HOpe you all have a great day

Isn't it nice when your family gatherings can center on the family and not the food?

Chili has become a staple in our house!  We eat it once a week.  I always throw in black beans and ground turkey to pack it with protein.  I have a lovely WLS friendly lasagna recipe for when you are on solids if you'd like it...just pm me.  It's made with zucchini instead of noodles.  Even my husband loved it!

that sounds good, I'll have to get it from you soon.  I find I am looking at all of the recipe web sites to find things to make that are different and that I know I have some idea of their nutritional value.  Want to add things to the normal meals and want to know that they're good for me.

The chili I madw was with ground turkey and red and black beans.  It was the first time  had made this recipe and dang it was tastey.

Get yourself a copy of the cookbook Eating Well After Weightloss Surgery - the recipes in there are excellent and packed with protein, and you can even eat them in the mushie phase!

There's a woman (Michelle) who posts mainly on the main board that has a blog/website w/TONS of WLS-friendly recipes (theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com).  There is also a recipe board on OH.
