Wow you guys...Thanks.

I totally missed the whole reason for this - being my liver.
Good God, you guys are helpful. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Mentally, everything you guys have said has stablized my thoughts for right now.

Im just thinking of everyone chowing down on Popeye's chicken or whatever...I'll be okay.  I just have to learn to live with it, and the end result.

I don't know how I'd make it through without you guys and your support. Thank you soooo much :0)

Honeybare, You sound like you are really struggling. I hope this will get easier for you soon. Can you have Jello or s/f popcicles? I am curious about the diabetic part as well. I hope your sugars are not to low. My hubby is diabetic and when he has low sugar all he wants is FOOD !
I am sure this is really hard but I know you can do this. Remember the final outcome and where you will be then. It is so hard to want something so bad and in order to get to it we have to work twice as hard sometimes. Good luck and you can do it girl !

WOW!  Is that your pre-op diet?  Lucky duck...  My pre-op diet is 2+ weeks of liquid ONLY.  Protein shakes and water and broth only.  Im going to die...

Ive also heard the same thing about the Slimfast shakes.  They hardly have any protein in them.  Can you call your Dr and see if you could use something different?  My surgeon says any protein shake other than Slimfast is fine as long as it is below 200 calories, below 12g carbs, below 2g fat, and ABOVE 20g protein per serving when mixed (meaning include any nutritional info in those numbers from whatever you mix the powder with like milk or juice- but I just use water to avoid having the hassle of doing the math, LOL!).  Ive already been replacing 2 meals a day with the shakes, and they tide me over for a LONG time- I just dont get hungry.  And, Ive already lost 15lbs, and Im not anywhere CLOSE to my 2 week pre-op diet yet!  Im still a few months out from surgery!  Im also a stay at home mom, so the temptation is never gone or easily forgotten :)

In any case- eye on the prize girl!  You can do this!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement Julie and Ava.

I think I may change up my protein shakes. I was given samples of Unjury, and the unflavored in my crystal light was horrible.

Your right Ava, the Slimfast really doesn't have as much protein in it as I'd like. They are telling me to have 3-4 shakes, but keep my protein between like 90-140g...that's almost impossible. The closest I've gotten all week is about 65g.

Yeah, you need to find a higher protein lower carb solution- especially since you are diabetic.  It will help keep you full longer and keep your insulin from spiking.

Check out Muscle Milk Light.  It's one of the better tasting ready to drink ones, in my opinion, and it's got 20g protein in 160 calories.  You can buy singles of it at most 7-11s if you want to try it before you buy a whole case of it.  If you have a Costco membership, there is a $7 off coupon for a case this month which gets it down to well under a dollar per shake (about $20 for a case of 24).
