My first day....

Of my preoperative diet. Wow, I can't even believe I made it this far.

Okay, my surgeon's nutritionist has me on a 1000-1200 calorie semi liquid diet. Meaning I can have one Lean Cuisine type meal a day.  For the last 2 weeks, I have been dreading this diet. I've been eating all my favorite foods, which I  know was probably bad, and I'm sure I gained at least 5 lbs because of it.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised this morning, when I tried the Slimfast Chocolate and it didn't make me gag...(I'm not big on shakes). It was actually pretty good, and I feel like its curbed my appetite.

This is such a wild experiene. I'm glad I can share on here

Wow, this is great news. I am sure everyone tries to eat their favorite foods before surgery. I hope you continue to be able to tolerate your shakes and do well on your pre op diet. Good luck.

good luck. doing a pre-op liquid diet is very good. it kind of gets you in the mindset and helps clean out your liver.

you will do great, i'm sure!

Honeybare, glad you enjoyed the shake.  If you tire of ther liquids, just try to keep yourself focused on what you want:  that end result; one hot and healthy Honeybare!  You'll do great!

Thank  you ladies soooo much!

Its 1:17 pm and I want French fries, lol.  I'll be okay though. I told my husband last night (as I ordered him to make me my very last hot chocolate chip cookie) that would honestly feel horrible, if I ate all this crap, and then turned around tomorrow, and had no will power to stick to the diet. I'd feel horrible.

So, that being said, I guess that's my motivation.

The nutritionist said the first 3 days are the hardest....I hope so.

YAY! and your surgery is getting so close. Trust me, this will be a lesson in willpower. You will still need that willpower after surgery! Especially if your husband is like mine and still eats whatever he wants after you have surgery.

That's excellent! Believe me this is the worst part, trying to find anything that you are allowed to eat/drink that won't make you gag! You seem to have nailed it!  Keep it up, you're doing great!  Leslie
