Just Venting...

I was actually told, "I think you need to gain 5-10 pounds"...Now, I should be jumping for joy...But this WLS has really started F-ing with my head. I had my lapband done on June 27, 2008. Since then I have lost 120 lbs. I am not considered "normal" yet, but I have gone from being morbidly obese to being overweight...My mother said I am looking haggard, my friends say "you are just too skinny"...Did anyone else go through this?

I am 156 pounds...FAR from being too skinny...but despite my sagging cottage cheese rolls under my clothes I do feel good when I put on a pair of jeans and a shirt..lol...

I know i shouldnt complain...well im not complaining...but I guess Im just venting...It makes me crazy when people say that I need to gain weight when i have gone through hell and back to lose it...

((((Heather)))) Honey you are BEAUTIFUL and do NOT let anyone tell you otherwise. You have busted your backside to get where you are and YOU SHOULD BE PROUD!!! I am proud of you! You look FAB honey! I know what your talking about though honey my own family told me on Christmas that I looked SICK..........and I said "Are you kidding me? I still have more curves then a roller coaster how can I look sick?" But its because I know what I look like without clothes. We have to do what makes US feel healthy and good about ourselves and worry less on what others think. Keep up the great work sweetie and YOU LOOK HOT!! :o)

HeatherCat - I have heard people tell me that I'm getting too skinny - I'm only ahem, ahem, (being honest), 158 pounds - but yanno - the ones that told me I'm getting too skinny are the haters that are overweight and obese that didn't fully support me with the surgery or believed the surgery was an easy way out.

As long as I love it, and am comfortable with it, and my hubby's very pleased, to me, our opinions are the only ones that matter - everyone else can go to hell with their comments.

Now if the doctor says I'm too skinny, I'll consider their opinion, but I'm far from being "underweight" and don't plan to go there.  I'll get as close to the middle range of the "normal" body weight for a little 5'3" stature that I am.

Honey if you feel good so be it. Don't worry sometimes people just don't know what to say.  I do not think people understand unless they have been in our shoes.

I don't have that problem yet, but my husband has lost about 115 lbs and is constantly told he looks sick. At 6' and 190 lbs, I think he looks perfectly healthy and is right where he should be, but it bothers him. I've come to the conclusion that the people telling him are a) jealous and hating on him and/or b) so accustomed to him being heavy that they're just not used to seeing him look "normal".

I say that as long as you feel good and healthy, that's all that matters. I'm sure it's easier said than done. For what it's worth, I think you look fabulous!

Heather,
I understand what you are saying. YOU had WLS for YOU, because YOU wanted to lose the weight. YOU have been very successful, because YOU have worked very hard. If YOU feel good, and YOU like the way YOU look, and the Docs say YOU are Healthy chalk it up to others and their green eyed monsters! LOL

I am sure you look beautiful, don't let anyone get you down, VENT...VENT....VENT.......LOL    Leslie
