OMG...I am feeling like crap...I got surgery my Lapband surgery on 10/19/09, go my first fill on 12/7/09 and was down 25 lbs until I weighed myself Monday only to find that I gained 2 back...I have been eating like crazy because I am taking Predisone and it is making me hungry beyond belief. My stomach is telling me to stop but my brain tells me to eat...anyone had this experience??? Hopefully, I didn't stretch my pouch, but I understand it takes consistent overeating overtime to do that, so I am not to worried..I am gonna do the pouch test after the predisone course, which is over in 4 days and I pray I go back to normalcy...
I really can't help you but if you are feeling really crappy maybe you should call your doc just to be safe. I also hope that maybe Candy a nice person who also has the band will read this and maybe can offer some advice. She is very knowledgeable about the band. That is the best I can offer you. Hope this might help.

I seriously think a pouch test is in order this early out.
call the doctor.
listen to your stomach.
you can damage your band.
Hopefully Candy will have some advice for you....
you have a wonderful tool and you need to use it to the best of your ability.
if you are having problems since your fill, call your doctor.

OMG,
First: Calm down; don't panic. You won't do anything to hurt your band on a 5-day course of Pred unless you are literally stuffing yourself, getting stuck and PBing like crazy. Steriods will cause weight gain. The best thing you can do is to focus on your protein, for satiety, and continue to get all of your water in, which will assist in flushing the waste the anti-inflammatory properties of the steriods will produce. A two pound gain on Pred is not unusual, even 5 pounds. It is temporary and will come back off. Just try to stay on course. If you're hungry, pop some raw almonds, eat half a protein bar, a hard-boiled egg with a bit of light mayo, mustard and paprika. Avoid processed carbs and liquid calories. I promise, you'll be fine.

Hi there! My ears were burning! LOL
It's mostly downward for my weight, but sometimes, I'll admit, it's crept back up on me here and there. Once by 5 pounds - which told me I needed to go back for a fill.
I am hungry often, but prefer a water or hot tea depending on where I am - and how cold I am, and I do deal with the mind games from time to time, and I learned early on that if I listened to my head, I'd be in a world of hurt later on, so after a few episodes of that, I just don't do it anymore.
In some desperate measures, when I've felt out of control hunger wise - I go for the Special K or South beach water mixes that claim to dampen the hunger if I'm stuck at work.
At home, if I'm feeling extremely ravenous, and have already knocked back about 16 - 24 ounces of fluids, I look for something "dense", and in my case, cheese does the trick for me. I'll eat a cube or two of cheese while I'm cooking dinner, and by the time dinner's ready, I really don't want much food on my plate.
I've never done the pouch test, and I admit that I thought that the pouch test was only for the RNYers, but it's not a bad idea to try.
And on the fills? I think it took me to the 4th fill before I really felt the restriction. If it doesn't show up right away, I've been told to give it 7 - 10 days - and yes, the restriction reared its head about 9 days later.
You'll probably be feeling much better after you are done with the meds - some meds can make you feel like a starving marvin. Keep in touch and let us know how it goes for ya!
P.S. Down 25 pounds in two months is totally awesome!!!! We generally lose 1 to 2 pounds a week on the band......
