Tic/Toc - Jan 4 - VSG
I really hate waiting. My mind is playing ping-pong with the fear of operative complications (including death !) and the rational part that understands that this is a much lower overall risk to my health as compared to staying morbidly obese. I can't help to feel like it is like putting all my chips on red with one spin of the roulette wheel......
i would think being a soprano you have no fear ;) it is normal to wonder if you are doing the right thing but the only way to know for sure is to actually go through with it. The people that have had VSG that i know have done wonderfully. if you are into yoga or meditation, you might want to try that to quiet your mind. one thing i do not suggest is going on an eating frenzy. I did that and regret it. good luck!
It's normal to be on an emotional rollercoaster pre-op, but just trust that you're doing the right thing and trust in your surgeon's hands to do the right thing.
The fact is, all of your chips would be on red if you were to stay morbidly obese, which you already know. You're doing a wonderful thing for yourself and your family - I promise you won't regret it!
Just hang in there, breathe and get ready for the ride of your life!
Hugs,
Tia

You will do great! My only suggestion, if you haven't already done so, is get off caffeine. I went through one hell of a withdrawal after surgery. Other than that, I was up and walking right after surgery. My husband and mother were in the waiting room and I actually walked in there personally to show them to my room.
The hardest part for me was being home with the drain. I felt a million times better once they took it out. My surgeon had me keep it in for a week, but all surgeons are different.

All I can say here is that you are definitely in good hands with Dr. Singh. He's a great doctor and I'm glad I had him!
We were all nervous - well , most of us were! So that's perfectly normal!
Like Tia said, get ready for the ride of your life! Once you get out of first gear, it's all smooth sailing from there on!
Congratulations on your upcoming rebirth!

It is normal to feel the way you do. I think many of us going through all these emotions.
Just want to wish you all the best, an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery. Keep us posted on your progress,

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.
