Found out what happened to my friend...
I found out what happened to my friend Jackie who passed away last week. She's the one who had RNY over a year ago. It turns out she had a bowel obstruction. She was really going through a lot and was in the hospital for quite some time. They were pumping her with morphin and she was still in pain. I'm a little surprised that they couldn't repair the bowel.
I went to her viewing last night and I was so disappointed in how the funeral home did her makeup. She did not even look like herself. :( She just turned 30 in November, but they made her look so much older. She was such a sweetheart and will be missed. Her smile truly lit up a room.
I also wanted to say, that I'm just sharing this experience. I'm in no way saying that people shouldn't get RNY.

How very sad because that is something that could have been repaired and should have been. It makes me lose so much faith in Doctors. She should still be here today. Things like that can be avoided. I feel so bad for her family. A friend of mine that had RNY almost 9 years ago went through a bowel repair about a year out and she has been fine since. Why did the Docs overlook that? Just makes me sad. Its not the RNY that took her life its the medical neglect of Doctors. That is a shame. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. And even sadder what the funeral home did. She was so young. (((Hugs))) Makes me cry to even think about it...........so so YOUNG!!

First & foremost I want to say I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. She was so young to have to go thru pain like that. However, at least she is pain free in her new life. You now have an angel watching over you!
Secondly, I completely agree with what Jilly said.....we put our faith into doctors....we should not have to doubt their judgement calls.
If you need anything, please let me know!

No Matter How I May Change, I Will Still Be ME!!!!
I know. It makes absolutely no sense why they couldn't find the obstruction and repair it in time. Very neglectful of the doctors. The first clue should have been how much pain she was in. They were giving her more and more morphin and she was STILL in pain. I'm just thankful that she is no longer in pain... but it's so sad to think that this could have possibly been fixed and she'd still be with us.
When I had spine surgery in 2001, Morphine caused me to have SEVERE constipation, I didn't have a bowel movement for almost a week, the pain was so much worse than the pain from surgery. I would never dream it could have been so serious. Thought and prayers go out to her friends and family. Thanks for the update, it should keep all of us on our toes.
