Just lost a friend who had RNY

I just found out that a friend of mine passed away this morning, due to complications of her gastric bypass. I don't have all of the details yet. But, she had the bypass about a year ago. Although, this does not happen often statistically, it really opens your eyes to what you need to do to stay healthy.

Awww I am so very sorry honey. Mike lost a co worker a year post op RNY because she was drinking beer and wine a lot and not absorbing it right and it poisoned her. That is why it is so very important to follow the rules. I pray for her family (((Hugs)))

Wow that is so sad! It's so scary to think that this is possible. Can you tell us what happened? Was she doing everything right? Perhaps one of us can learn from this tragedy!

Heather, I don't know the exact cause of death just yet. But I will let everyone know when I find out. She had other things going on as well, like a shattered knee she was rehabing. I do know she went out to drink from time to time, but not an every day thing as far as I know. She's had 3 surgeries in the past year. I really want to know what happened. I hadn't seen her in a while because of the knee issues, so I don't know how well she was sticking to the rules. I hope to know more soon.
