Insurance Denial X-post

Well as I thought would happen Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois has decided that the VSG is experimental and they will not pay.  I contacted my doctors office and they are going to handle the appeal.  I knew this was not going to be easy but have to view this as another step closer to getting my surgery.  This has been a long journey already but I still believe this is the right surgery for me and I am willing to fight for it.  Thanks for all of the support I have recieved.

Oh, Teresa, I'm so sorry.  That's just the pits!!!  I'm happy you have the right attitude and are geared for a fight!

Honestly I really expected it to be denied.  My real hope is in the appeal process.  The insurance is self funded by hubbys company so I can appeal to human resources if all else fails.  I feel strongly that the VSG is MY surgery and I am willing to fight for it.  Thanks for the support.

so sorry you have to go through this. must be so frustrating. well stick with it and hopefully you will get the surgery you want. good luck!

I have BCBS National and they denied my VSG the first time around too. After appealing, they approved me. It was a long, hard, journey... but stick to it!!! Fight for what you want!

Thanks.  Seeing all of you people who have had surgery and are losing weight gives me so much hope.  I am ready for the battle.
