I'm home

I was released from the hospitial on Sunday evening.  I had quite a few mishaps, and major regrets, but it's time to move forward, and stay positive now. I am glad to be home.

I did not expect the pain to be so bad, honestly.  When did the majority of the pain dissapate for you?

Although I'm really sorry to hear it was so rough for you, I'm really happy to have you join us on the loser's bench!  I hope every day brings you improvement.  I honestly found the first 6 weeks to be the worst - everything was much easier after that.

I came home with a drain, which stayed in for 10 days.  This drain caused the bulk of my discomfort/pain, but was easily taken care of with liquid Tylenol, and it was a GREAT relief once the drain was taken out.  Everyone's different, but if your pain is really bad, give your surgeon a call.  They can give you something to keep you comfortable.

Hugs,

Tia

Im sorry you are having such a tough time at it. I had the same problem and really wondered if I had made the right decision. i think those feelings are normal. it took me a week to not feel horrible and another week to feel pretty normal. not sure what your complications were so that might make your recovery longer. good luck!

Sorry you had such a rough go.  Believe me, it will be worth it!

I felt crappy and painful for exactly 7 days.  I woke up exactly one week from my surgery date feeling about 1,000 times better.

Walking helped with the pain, as did holding a pillow over my tummy.

Hi there,

Welcome home and to the loser's bench!!

Yes, the pain was bad but believe me when I tell you that it should soon be a distant memory and you will be on the road the healthy and happy.  Mine took a full 6 1/2 to 7 weeks to completely go away but I probably did that to myself lifting my 45 lb dog up and down right after surgery (she was dying).  That said, I had surgery Tuesday and stopped taking any pain meds by Saturday and never took anything for pain from them on, just tolerated it.  However, I was able to be up and doing normal things within a week I'd say.

Best wishes!
Heather

I am sorry about your pain and I do hope you start feeling better soon. Take care and just think what your outcome will be. A healthier more beautiful you.

Thanks Ladies :)

Out of curosity, how long until you felt safe to try to sleep on your side or stomach?  I feel so uncomfortable sleeping on my back but am scared to seep otherwise at this point.

I was physically unable to sleep on my side/stomach for about a week and a half.  I had a bunch of pillows on both sides to help ease the pain.  I had surgery on a Tuesday, and I think the 2nd Saturday after surgery I could comfortably sleep on my side again.

I am sorry you had such a rough time at it.  I did too.  I even had complications and buyer's remorse set it quickly.  The first 5 to 6 weeks was the hardest for me but one day I woke up feeling great and my buyer's remorse was completely gone and girl it was the best decision I ever did for myself.  Please go to my profile and read my journey from the beginning.  I am sure it will help you some with your journey.  I took pain meds for about 4 weeks.  By the 5th week I had no pain just soreness in certain areas.
I did get to sleep on my side around the 2nd or 3rd week. I can't remember but I did blog it.

Take care and take it one day at a time.  I promise you it will get better.

Happy Holidays and welcome to the Loser's Bench!
