GBMC?
Welcome to the Maryland Board, Erica!!!
I had my surgery at GBMC in 2005, with Dr. David von Rueden, who's now at St. Agnes, so unfortunately, I can't give you any feedback on the current program.
I will tell you that in my eyes, DVR is a God!! LOL!! I just love that man! And the care I received at GBMC, which has its own bariatric unit, was top-notch.
I'm sure someone will chime in and give you info on the current program.
Good luck and Happy Holidays,
Tia

hello!
i had my rny on 10/8/09, and my doc is dr. liao (he did my procedure). the program is absolutely amazing! dr. liao, his partner dr. moe, the nurse practicioner kate, nurse nick, the nut, all are top notch!
they treat you like your thier only patient, take care of all the insurance stuff, and all is good!
if you choose them you will not be disappointed.
my 2 cents, hope it helps!

I really liked their presentation that Dr. Liao did but I met with Dr. Moen for a consultation I didn't get a warm, happy vibe from him. I wouldn't discount the program, I'm just shopping other places too though to make sure that I am comfortable with the surgeon performing the procedure.
I did like that GBMC manages the insurance portion of it for the patient, but, I'm a benefits coordinator for work so for me, it's not really something that I need to pay for. GBMC charges you $500 for their program fee too but that includes the nutirtionist and it's a 6 month program, I believe.
