I am b ack - or make room for me on the loser's bench

Well I made it, without a whole lot of fanfare, to the other side. Surgery on Tuesday. It went so well. Well except for the 7 hours I had to spend in recovery while they looked for a bed for me. Dr. Steele is amazing as was the care at Hopkins Bayview. I can't believe how little pain there was over all. In fact, the biggest source of pain was my throat - they must have had a difficult time intubating me. I was off all pain meds by Wednesday night - they were fogging me way too much. I am so happy to be home. I feel a little rumbling in the gut every now and then but all in all I am tolerating everything well (although it did creep me out big time when they pulled out the drainage tube) Now its sip, rest and walk. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and I am just so happy to be looking at the rest of this journey now.
