Additional fees....

I ended up paying:

$500-- surgeon program fee
$150-- nutritionist (included 2 post-op visits)
$350-- my copay for the surgery....

When all the bills came in... my insurance covered over $30,000! I stopped complaining. Your timing sucks, but as you can see... it's worth it...

Honeybare - I paid $150 for nutritionist, $150 for the psych eval, and the final appointment with the Nutritionist I paid another $150 - for the final and the 6 month post op appointments.

I have SHPS with the State of Maryland, and they do reimburse me quickly - like 3 days for all eligible copays.

Hopefully that's what you have?  If so - what's loaning a few dollars, just to get it back?  That was what my thought was when I paid those fees.

I don't remember paying a program fee to Dr. Singh, and either i wasn't charged one or my insurance covered it?

Wellllllll after hearing everyones story, I guess $350 isn't as bad as I thought.

I acutally just signed up with the FSA, so I won't be able to take advantage until January, and that's fine because thats when I'll have the surgery and I'm guessing when I'll start needing to use it.  Besides, at this point I would not change surgeons....I think the surgeon i have is awesome and I wouldn't want to try another so late in the process.

I like Bernice have to pay the 1000 but lucky for me I work at the hospital that owns the bariatric practice and they are taking it out payroll deduction over a year. I would ask your surgeons office mgr if you can pay after the first of the year so you can use your flex spending. My pre  op is 12/23 also!! Oh, I will also have a copay after surgery to the hospital because it will be in the new year!

Thats a really smart suggestion....I think I may try that.

Thanks for suggesting that. I guess we can compare notes on Wednesday, after appointments, lol.

In addition to the Specialist office visits, I had to pay $150 each for the Nut & Psyc, then $1,750 for St. Agnes, and I am waiting to see how much I need to pay the Dr and others.

I have BC/BS of NY.
