Tomorrow is my surgery day

I'm getting more and more emotional, nervous and excited. I'm scheduled to arrive at 5:45am and surgery is at 7:45am at St Agnes tomorrow. I'm emotional because I won't see my 2 year old for nearly 3 days beacuse he's not allowed in the hospital. Any advice on how to get through this easier?

I just tried to keep my eyes on the prize. My kids stayed with my mom and they were both old enough to understand what was going on and were pretty upset which upset me. But I was doing this for us. So I could be healthy and play with them and be a better mom. I remember that feeling every time I want to get down on myself about stuff and slip back into old behaviors. I am that better mom now. 155 lbs. lighter i can run with them and play with them and I am more involved in their lives. And it all started with that glorious day.

Good luck to you. I look forward to you joining us on the Loser's Bench.

Awwww!!!  Everything you're feeling is normal.  Since your baby's still so young, it probably won't bother him as much as it does you.  But...you could leave him a note for your hubby to read to him, along with some small presents for while you're gone.  Once you're feeling up to it, you could also call home and at least let him listen to your voice on the phone.

Would St. Agnes allow your son to be in the lobby of the hospital?  Because you'll have to walk after surgery - who says you can't walk to the lobby?  Of course, you'll want to be extra cautious because of all the germs going around this time of year.

Good luck!!  Do you have an angel (someone for your hubby to notify after you're a loser)?  If not, and you'll have me, I'll happily volunteer!!

Hugs,

Tia

Tia now stop making me cry... LOL.. I have enough emotions going on :) I would love for you to be my angel. I'll make sure my husband (Todd) notifies you first.. Thanks for all your advice and feedback that you gave that help bring me up to this point. I'll never forget.

Thanks Nessa, I'll surely need it. What's odd is all I keeping thinkg about is this JP drain and how it's going to feel. That's the only thing that's creeping me out..I'm a weirdo I know :)

it's not a huge deal... really but it being pulled was a turning point for me.... I felt 'sick' til the doc pulled it.

don't fret bout it...  does your doc send you home with it?

No, they stated the cath and the JP drain will be pulled the day of discharge, so I guess they pull it on day 2.

I don't have a lot to add to what has already been shared. Just take it all one step at a time. You will be fine. Sending you best wishes! I am so happy for you!
