YAY! I had my sugery

Had my surgery last Thursday, came home on Saturday.  Monday I had to go back to the doctor because of a lovely fever.  Turned out to be pneumonia (grrrr).  Took 2 does of my medicine and I was on the treadmill on Tuesday.  I have been on every day since.  Woot!

Still having significant pain (at times) at one incision site.  Is this normal?

Tomorrow I get to go to pureed food and I am so excited.

Thanks for all of your encouraging words pre-surgery.  I am so excited to be on THIS side of the journey now.

It was pretty good.  I will have to say that one nurse was the worst nurse I have ever seen.  I actually had to go to the charge nurse to report her (and I never do stuff like that).  Just remember... Emma.  I wonder why she would even go into that profession.

Anyway, other than that, Bayview was great.  Very encouraging to the patients without being pushy.

Bryan, are you considering changing docs?  I noticed you have my favorite doc - Dr. Singh, and as far as I know, he's still operating at St. Agnes?

Hi Kris -

Congratulations!!!  Sorry to hear about your pneumonia - hopefully, it'll be smooth sailing from now on.

And yes, the pain is normal.  Of course, should it get really bad, you develop a fever, etc., it's worth a call to Dr. S.

Just hang in there - it'll all come together!

Hugs,

Tia

Congrats on your surgery and I hope you start to feel better soon. If you have pain call your doc and ask his opinion. Good luck on your journey.

Kris I am so delighted for you!  welcome to the loser's bench.

I had no significant pain after the JP drain was pulled so I can't comment other than to say if you are concerned call the doctor.

Kris - welcome to the Loser Bench...the view is great from here!

I'm two and a half weeks out now and I still have some pain around one incision - not nearly as much as before, but it does seem to be the one that is taking the longest to heal.  Unlike others, mine is on my right side, not my left, and I have a feeling it may have been his first incision just because of the shape and placement.  It's much better than it was, but it's still pulling at night a smidge.

Sorry to hear about the pneumonia.  I didn't have it after surgery, but I'd had it before so I knew what to look out for, and did a lot of deep breathing exercises with my spirometer to prevent it.

Best of luck on your journey!
