Italy WOW and pics
Hello everybody,
All of you know that I was in Italy last week for work. We got there a day early and did some quick site-seeing, but were lucky enough to get done with work two days early and got to spend 1/2 of Thursday and all of Friday in Rome. I was with my boss and we walked all over Rome...literally. We didn't take advantage of the public transportation. A year ago, there is no way I could have survived that! This year I could and did.
My WOW moment came on Thursday afternoon when we visited St. Peter's at the Vatican. The last thing we did was go up to see the Cupola, which is the main dome above the altar in the church. It is 500+ stairs. On the way up, we took the elevator up as far as possible, but then there were 320 steps remaining. The would up along the circumfrence of the dome and were very narrow. So not only could I have fone up 320 steps, there is no way I could have fit because the passageway is very narrow in many parts. It was amazing to look out over all of Rome and Vatican City. On the way down we skipped the elevator and took the stairs all the way down. Yes, my legs were sore the next day but that didn't stop my from spending the day walking Rome.
This is the dome that we went to the top of...
Me at the top of the dome, overlooking St. Peter's Square and Rome:
This is me at the Colliseum...I don't hate having my picture taken anymore!
Thanks for letting me share,
Heather

What beautiful pictures! I can't wait to be comfortable enough to walk all over when we travel...it's one of my big goals when I get the weight off.
And you look gorgeous!!!
