hello all,

i had my 1 month checkup (6wks out) today, and i am now 288 lbs, down 52 from my highest of 340, and down 40 lbs from the morning of surgery! wow!  i can now go to the gym and excercise, and i am excited!! (i probably could have gone sooner, but i wanted to make sure the doc said ok first)

one thing i am still having a problem with is that although i eat alot slower than i used to, i still eat too fast. (according to the doc and my wife, and i cant lie, they are right)

any suggestions on how i could slow down further? i had a couple episodes where i ate faster than i should and the food came back up. no good! the doc also talked about a stricture, but i think i need to slow down eating more, i just dont know how, it feels like i take forever to eat now...

thanks for any advice!

brian

Hi Brian!!!

That's AMAZING!!!  40 POUNDS IN 6 WEEKS!!!!  WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

You might want to eat with a child sized spoon and/or fork.  Another trick I learned, through my endless years of dieting, was to put the fork down between each bite.  Also, counting the number of bites before you swallow might help.

So, does the doctor think you have a stricture?

Hugs,

Tia

he isnt sure one way or another. he said to make sure i eat reeeaaallly slow, and if i have problems as i get into more solid foods, he will check me out with an upper endoscopy at my 3 month appt in janruaury.(or before if i call him sooner) i dont think i do though, i think i am still eating too fast...

congrats on your loss so far... well done!

for me I use a small plate or a small bowl and I went out and got some tiny oyster forks and some demitasse spoons and use them for my utensils.

i put the utensil down between bites and I eat for 30 minutes.....

Ticker is from Day of Surgery.. weight goal is personal preference as I've MET my doctor's goal

WOW, you have done so well. I am sure you must be so excited. I agree with all the advice that has been give to you as far as trying to eat slowly. It is so hard to try to eat slow when we have been eating fast for so long. Keep up the good work.
