Hello all!  Today is my one month surgi-versary.  I think I'm down about 30lbs, my official weigh in will be next tuesday.

I start solid foods today and I have my lists of do's and don'ts but I have to admit, I'm a little scared to start solids. LOL!  I guess I'm nervous cause I'm scared I'll eat too fast or not chew up enough or do all the things right and still might have it come back up.  I have had NO problems to date which is awesome.

What did you guys all eat for your first solids and how'd your expierence go? I know we're all different, guess I just wanted to share some stories.

Wow!!!  30 pounds in one month!!!!!  WOOOOO!

My first foray into solids was a crab cake - and I think it was about 3 bites - THREE BITES AND I WAS FULL!!!  LOL!!!!

Just take your time, think about what you're doing and follow your guidelines.  It's all a learning process.

Hugs,

Tia

I think it was steak or chicken!!! Both high in protein and what I had been craving while on mushies. Just take it slow and chew chew chew and you will be fine!!!

I'm still on mushies, but my first solid is going to be shrimp.  I got some last night and put it in the processor and made some shrimp salad and I was grossed out.  So my first solids are going to be shrimp!

Although I have had (with my NUT's instructions) a quarter of a piece of toast and a saltine, both chewed very well.

30 lbs in a month is great! Congrats! I was nervous about starting solids, but I found that putting my fork down bites forced me to eat slow. I haven't had any problems up to this point.

Well everything went well last night and today.  I ate some pre-cooked chicken strips, heated them up with a little bit of salsa and it was great. =o)  Chew, Chew, Chew!  So now I need to find additional ways to get protein in since I'm not getting as much in as I was with soft foods.  I'm gonna check out some protein water, anyone try it?  Also, can someone point me in the direction to get some samples of flavored protein powder?  I wanna try some vanilla in my coffee but don't want to buy a whole jug.  How much protein powder would I add to a cup of Decaf?

Thanks everyone as always for your support and help!
