A lot of us over the weekend were talking about not being able to tolerate large amounts of food and what to get in FAST to make sure you get some protein. Losing protein is NEVER a good thing because your body starts to pull it from your muscles and you will REGRET THAT! SO here are a few samples of things I use to get some protein in QUICK!! ;o)

Hard Boiled eggs- Easy for most to tolerate and have about 6grams of protein each so that is 12 grams of protein in a sitting.

South Beach living Cinnamon Raisin Protein Bar (In breakfast aisle) has 10 grams of protein in one SMALL bar. SO YUMMY AND WORTH IT!!! Most protein bars low in sugar and sugar alchs and high in protein are a GREAT IDEA!!

CHEESE!!! I tolerate block cheese the best so I cut two pcs of sharp cheddar on two Ritz Crackers and I have 10 grams of protein. YUMMY TOO!!!

Peanut Butter ( I use JIF) Take 2 Ritz or your choice of cracker and put 1 tablespoon of PB on each cracker. Take your time eating them and they will FILL YOU UP and its 8 grams of Protein!!

Pork and Beans -
I know some of you are like Ewww but for those that like them EAT THEM each serving is a half of cup and has 6grams of protein and 7 grams of FIBER!! ;o)

Greek Yogurt-
I get the plain Brown Cow brand (Shoppers) and mix half a cup with some sugar free apple butter and its sooooooooo DELISH and 8 grams of protein!!!!

Kraft Shredded Cheese on 2 Ritz crackers in the microwave melted is 7 grams of protein ;o)

COTTAGE CHEESE
I use several brands but today I will use the Daisy Brand (Shoppers) as an example..................1 half of a cup mixed with SF Concord Grape Jelly or Sugar Free Apple Butter and OMG!! Way too yummy and has 14 grams of protein for every half of a cup. WOW!!!!!

MEAT AND SEAFOOD
are the BEST way to get protein in your body but if you need ideas in a pinch DO WHAT YOU CAN!!!! Be smart and try to incorporate as much protein into your daily routine as you can. Dont be like me and start losing muscle mass because as a runner that has set me BACK and I dont want that happening to ANY OF YOU!! GET YOUR PROTEIN IN!!!!! Remember ONE CHICKEN WING HAS 6GRAMS OF PROTEIN ;o)~

OMG you so turned me on to the Greek Yogurt and SF apple butter, and I'm addicted, it is SOOO good.  I use the Chobani which has 14 grams of protein in one serving.  And now that you've mentioned putting SF apple butter in cottage cheese I'm gonna have to run home and try that too.  Sounds delish.

Thanks for these suggestions sometimes it just takes someone mentioning something different you haven't tried to get us moving.

I have never been able to get cottage cheese past my lips. I honestly can't remember if it was the texture or the taste but I can't even look at it, could that change with surgery or would it work if I blender it? I'm lucky I guess in that if I buy it and I cant eat it my hubby will.  Ugh! So much to think about.  Thanks Jilly for all the good ideas.

Your welcome honey. :o) I had never in my life ever tasted cottage cheese until after surgery. I never liked the look smell or texture of it but when I started losing muscle mass I forced myself and was so GLAD I DID!!! It went down so so easy ;o) I mix it with Sugar Free Grape or Strawberry Jelly or SF Apple Butter. Then its just a yummy treat. ;o) Right now I am eating a Breyers Light Blueberry yogurt with 6g protein and I have one a day. (((Hugs)))

Try cottage cheese with a little bit of tomato sauce heated in the microwave for 15 seconds or so. I don't like cottage cheese at all but with the tomato sauce on it it tastes like you're eating pasta and cheese.
