oh good.  (myoplex)  i've heard of a lot of people getting it wrong and getting sick.  as for the milk intolerance... terri and april both had milk intolerance when they were post-op.  it did go away for them though so i hope it does for you.  as for me.. i just don't like the consistency of the powdered drinks when made with milk.  the thickness makes me gag.  so i just used them with water.

I prefer EAS also, but careful... you want EAS Myoplex Lite...  all of the others contain too much sugar.  And I'd shoot for 80 grams of protein over 50 grams, but it's difficult to achieve early out.

Hi Gina!

I've used the EAS Advant Edge Low Carb RTD protein shakes for 4+ years now.  My personal fave is the French Vanilla, which I use as a creamer in my coffee and tea, and the Rich, Dark Chocolate flavor, which adds a mocha-type taste to my coffee.

I've included their website here for you:

They have NO sugars and are great for us!!

HTH,

Tia

hey Gina

I never found a protein drink I liked except for Costco brand Chocolate shake but I didn't start that till a year after surgery. At the beginning, I stuck with a liquid protein supplement because each ounce gave me 16 gms, so I'd do 2 in the morning and 2 at night and I'd manage the rest through food.

http://www.globalhp.com/LiquaCel.html 2 flavors: protein and orange.

I stil have some if you think you might be at some lunch/gathering that I might be at too, so you can try it.

Tia.. I had asked Sloane about the Advent shakes when I saw them in the store because they weren't on DVR's list, but they seem to meet all the criteria that they gave us.  She said that the Advents weren't meant for meal replacement, but I don't remember why.  I tried to find the reason on EAS' site and they do refer to it as "snacking," but they don't really embellish why they say that.

i like the Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel  but ICE cold and with a tube of orange crystal light (or mixed into greek yogurt)

I also use the Body Fortress Whey protein (available cheap at Walmart)  but then I doctor it with the davinci sugar free syrups.

Jilly... me too!  I was having a very hard time getting in all 80 grams of my protein before I started using the vanilla whey protein in my coffee.  Of course, DVR is not happy with my coffee intake and it probably caused the ulcer I recently had, but I'm an addict and I admit it.

I have never tried the Nectar.. looking forward to trying that.

Hi Gina,

Max Protein for me.  Some GNC stores carry it.  The one on York Road near Northern Parkway definitely has it.  I have vanilla and chocolate and I have a variety of SF Da Vinci syrups I ordered from netrition.com which I add for variety.  Max Protein does not make me nauseous at all.

I agree with others, your taste will definitely change after surgery....

Debbie

One correction (maybe someone else has pointed this out), you are supposed to get 50 grams of protein a day, not mg. Just thought I'd point that out!

Look at the link in my signature line. I have a gazillion ideas in there. That way you can see what interests you and make your own variations!
