Back to the Land of the Living
Thank you all for your well wishes. Surgery (apparently) was a breeze for my wonderful surgeon. I can not say enough great things about Dr. McKenna. He was there for me several times on Tuesday evening, and again yesterday before I was released.
I'm able to get online here at my Mom's for a minute (who knew she had internet??) and check on things. Surgery went well, but my recovery did not go as easily. They had a devil of a time getting my heart rate stable and had to give me several doses of metoprolol before I was allowed to go up to my room. I ended up spending 3 hours in recovery and poor Bob was beside himself, because they told him I was going up to my room at 11:30 or so, so he was waiting up there for me for a long time with no word. After they got my heart rate stablized I was ok and off all monitors (which I thought was odd) and had the best popcicle I've ever had.
Leak test was easy but the endo who performed it was a little rough on me. Thankfully Dr. McKenna was in the room and told them to take it easy on me. I got to see my itty bitty new stomach and no issues.
I'm at my mom's recouperating. I spent last night in a recliner and it was so much easier on me than a bed would have been. My insides started waking up around 2am this morning and I swear it sounded like Godzilla vs. Mothra. It was so loud my dog heard it and looked at me like I had an alien coming out of me.
I've sent Bob home for some rest (mine, not his). He's very doting, and I'm afraid hasn't gotten much sleep. He's gone home for a well deserved night off. I'm sipping my protien drink (at total of 4 of my required 8 oz. are in today - doesn't taste bad, but who knew it would a struggle to get in 2 oz at a time?). I'm also working on getting in my required 12 oz. of fluids on top of that. That's harder. Dr. McKenna' staff has you do 2 oz protien drink, then 4 oz of fluids, then 2 oz protien, 4 oz fluids, etc. I've been working on a six oz cup of hot tea all day, but half is in, so I'm ahead of the game. I can't deal with the jello. Its just gross. Popcicles rock.
Thanks again for all your well wishes. Hope to be feeling better soon. I had quite a bit of pain, but a lot has subsided, now that I'm able to walk. Due to my heart issues, they wouldn't get me up to walk much in the hospital. Now I'm doing laps around my Mom's and feeling better. The liquid tylenol is helping quite a bit.
Disapointments - I'm sill on insulin, sliding scale, for the time being. Dr. McKenna thinks I'll be off by the end of the week. I am already off of one of my blood pressure meds though - and possible the rest in two weeks when I follow up with my primary care.
Will post more this weekend!
*hugs*

CONGRATS, BERNICE!!! I am so happy to see you posting!! I'm sorry to hear of the "issues" you had, but hopefully, this'll be the last of them.
I won't bore you with anything else right now, but will wait for you to get home and settled over the weekend, THEN I'll bug you.
In the meantime, give me a call if you need anything! And...the gurglies are perfectly normal. There's a lotta gas rumbling around in there!
Hugs & love,
Tia
