Is plastic surgery inevitable?

Okay, so maybe this question is for the people that had the surgery a couple of years ago, but I was wondering if you had to have plastic surgery, meaning in some cases did the skin just kinda get tight. I've been really curious about this lately.

Granted I have always been a chubby kid, and definitely an overweight teen/adult, and now I'm wondering if there are people that had the surgery that didn't need plastic surgery afterwards. I look at my arms in the mirror and can see how I could have saggy skin sleeves (lol) after the surgery or did working out really pay off?

I can't answer for everyone but my arms are saggy but I haven't really cared. The thing that had bothered me most was the hanging skin off the tummy. It made getting into pants my size very difficult. I'd have to buy a size up just to fit it around the belly and then it would be lose in the legs and the waist. So I had a tummy tuck done. And, that was with me going to a personal trainer my first year out from surgery.

I think if I worked out more with just my arms, they might get ebtter tones but I just don't seem to care enough lol

That reminded me - I mentioned seeing this commercial a few weeks back to a few friends, and then forgot all about it.

For a quick fix, I am considering checking this out.

not sure how much weight you have on ya or how your skin is, but those are all factors. as for me, i have very loose skin especially on my arms and stomach so plastics will probably happen. the only question is when and how will i pay for it LOL

It all depends on the elasticity of your skin.  I have loose skin and I am planning for PS in the future.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

I'm just a little over a year out and if things stay the way they are or get saggier, PS  (tummy tuck, possible LBL) is definitely in my future.  Of course, coming up with the money is another story!

I'm still pre op but I can tell you that, God willing, PS will be in my future.  My skin has lost all elasticity in the belly, boobs and innter thighs.  I really don't expect to see it firm up any.

angie, you and i are about the same age and i'm right there with you.  my skin had little elastin to start with.  even after having a babies early in life, my tummy never went back to "normal" and i had a hanging pooch.  now it's a full apron and my boobs and thighs are a mess too.  once i finish paying off colleges, plastics are next!

Thanks Ladies!

I was wondering if I should start rigorously working out, to possibly firm some areas up. I don't know. My sister, who has never had wls, but did have a breast reduction (if that counts for anything) suggested that I start working out, because she HEARD it does wonders in terms of getting your skin to "snap back". But guess what? My skin has no "back" to snap to, lol. I've always been a big girl. I'm 30, and I think in areas my skin is tight, but losing possibly 100lbs or more, I don't have a clue if working out or anything else will work; granted I have no idea what it will look like either way.

For me sadly....yes it is.

Couple things to consider. I was SMO going into this. All time high weight of around 350 and a pre-op weight of 336. So with having almost 200 lbs to lose versus someone that only had around 100 to lose, my skin was affected more.

Also like you I was ALWAYS overweight. Just chubby as a kid, but always overweight/obese as an adult.

Everyone kept telling me because of my age and how much I worked out that I would be fine, but unfortunately, thats not the case. My arms seemed to have recover okay (not great but okay). But my stomach and inner thighs are a HOT MESS to say the least!! lol
