not feeling full
So tomorrow it'll have been a week since surgery. When I drink I don't feel full. Part of me wonders if they really did anything in there! I mean obviously they did, but still. Do you not feel full until you get non-liquid food, I guess? Like I could probabily drink more than 4 oz per half hour. I can drink 4 oz in like 10 minutes, faster if I wasn't forcing myself to go slow. Is this a problem?
Jess -
Everything is still healing and kind of numb. The best thing for you to do is to follow, as closely, as possible, the edicts of DVR's team. But do let them know when you go back for your follow-up.
As far as feeling full - well, honestly, at 4+ years post-op, provided I get in my fluids and my protein for the day, I AM NEVER HUNGRY. Not real hunger, anyway. Head hunger, well, that's another story.
Hang in there - your body and mind will both be undergoing changes,
Tia
I had a hard time getting down 4 ounces at one time post-op, but then it varied all the time. In fact, my fullness varies to this day. Sometimes I'm just able to eat more than other times. The real key to success to train yourself to eat smaller portions more often. I slowly went back to my old habits of eating only twice a day, which meant being very hungry at both meals, which can lead to overating at both meals. As a result, I maintained weight for several months (which is better than gaining, but maintaining was not part of my plan either.) My nutritionist got me back on six mini-meals a day and even though it's difficult to do because of my job, I am never hungry and I'm losing weight again. So, don't think about what you're capable of eating/drinking.. just stick to the program and make smaller meals your lifestyle. Don't think of this as a temporary diet plan. Think of it as the rest of your life. Create habits that will stick.
