Question about seeing the doctor before surgery?
Hey Maryland, Did anyone see their surgeon twice before surgery or is once the norm? My initial visit was Sept. 14, I asked to see the doctor again before surgery . . . the doc's assistant is checking. Should I withdraw my request? I just felt the initial visit was so quick and he asked most of the questions. . . so maybe I should see him again before surgery. What do you think? Thanks, Pam
Hi Pam!
I saw DVR on my consult on March 23, and then not again until I went to a support group meeting pre-op. I walked up to him and introduced myself and told him I wanted to be sure he knew on whom he'd be cutting the following Tuesday!!!! LOL!!!
I also gave him instructions, "Rest the night before and eat well." LOL!!!
Hopefully, your doc's office staff is well versed enough that they should be able to answer any questions you have, but if it allays your fears, yes, push for another appointment with him.
Hugs,
Tia
Hey Pam,
I actually did see my surgeon twice before surgery. I saw him once for the initial consultation then I saw him again for a pre-op consultation. That actually was my surgeons own stipulations though. He prefered to go over all the pre-op instructions and aftercare and answer any questions and concerns that I had personally. I appreciated this because it made me feel MUCH more comfortable. The morning before surgery he also came to see me again and even offered to answer questions and speak with my family member that had brought me to the hospital so they felt comfortable with everything. As you will see and find out, everyone is partial to their surgeons but I truly adore mine, he really cares about YOU as a patient not a number.
