oh that made me think of something else i adore

roasted chickpeas.

use a deep roasting pan (metal works best)
preheat the oven to about 450  (yes it's high)
rinse canned chickpeas
put a bit of oil in the pan  (I use canola and it has a higher smoke point than olive oil)
dump in the rinsed chick peas
season as you wish (onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and pepper are my favs (then salt when done)  some folks like cummin  or ranch dressing seasoning mix (the powder)

put in the oven and check after 20 minutes.  they are probably still soft.  stir them.
then return them to the oven
check frequently (every five minutes) by SHAKING the pan.  when they have started to brown and they RATTLE they are done  (this could take another 20 minutes of cooking time)
turn off the oven and let them cool IN THE OVEN

sadly I have NOT found a good way to make these keep (i.e. stay crunchy) for more than a day  but there were times I was making them daily.....

I am with you on falling off the wagon.  Yesterday however I was good... Sunday - not so good... Today not even close to on the wagon.  I am PMS'ing and it shows.  I had a scare on the way to work this morning when a car entered the beltway from 83 South Bound crossed clear over 5 lanes of morning traffic hit the barrier and careened back toward us landing about a foot and a half from my bumper...  Then their was the wait on the paramedics, police, giving a statement, etc.

Therefore I got to work late, had lunch with Nessa and Mo and came back to work for my day to really begin...  I have however been starving ever since lunch!  I have eaten pizza cheese (I guess I should be grateful I did not eat the entire slice, just the cheese!) a chocolate square and have had to fight the urge to go back for a cheese stick all afternoon!  Ugh!

I know days like today happen for a reason, and pre op I would have done McD with a big mac and more, but I hate the fluctuation of day to day mood swings!

I *KNOW* the hunger is in my head, but that does NOT stop my stomach from rumbling out loud at me!

I was jus****ching part of a bandsters blog and it was about differentiating between real hunger and thirst.  Try to increase your water intake?

Good luck!

Hi Nikki!

I've been loaded down with school work here, and still have more to do.

I saw this post and wanted to respond.  I have had hungry days too.  I don't give in to them, I tend to walk away or treat them differently.  Walking away is when I notice that I'm bored - which was a trigger for eating pre-op.

I did notice that if I ate my favorite Apple & Cinnamon Weight Control instant oatmeal - I was starving later, I've noticed with eating fruit, I'm starving soon afterwards, so I just basically stay away from those items.

When I feel hungry, I drink at least 8 ounces.  Then, I'd wait and see.  Generally they say that the hunger is a sign for your body needing fluids....and I didn't appreciate that information until after the surgery, it then became obvious to me.  My "hunger" is gone most of the time.

I find that having pepperoni slices, a few cans of vienna sausages, beef jerky, and a can of tuna in my desk helps me too if I'm truly hungry - and when I've forgotten to bring lunch or didn't have leftovers to bring for lunch.  As lunch, they work great in a pinch.

Hope this helps!
