Hello beautiful people!

I'm in the process of getting approved for surgery (praying my stuff is sent off this week), and I remember when I met with the surgeon, he said that he may implant a filter near my pelvic area because my feet tend to get swollen.

I was wondering if anyone had this told to them, and if you got the filter how it felt.

I never even considered having to have anything else done.

Please let me know!
TIA

I have heard this with my doctor as well - it's done to prevent blood clots.  It's a tiny screen, implanted in the artery in your genital area.  I haven't had one done there, but I do have a stent in my heart (which is the same thing) and I have had it for 7 years now.  I've never felt a thing.

I have one placed a week before my RNY:  I chose to have it remain but I did have
the option of having it removed.

Simple In and out procedure-  didn't feel a thing

Thanks ladies!

This was the one thing that caught me off guard when I had the consultation. He was just concerned about my ankles because they were a little swollen. Actually, after work, they tend to be swollen but I rarely pay it much attention.

He said he'd have one put in, probably a couple of hours before the surgery and keep it in, until a couple of weeks after surgery.

Oh well....

Jabreel,

I never had one put in but I know of a few that has and they never felt a thing.  It's good to have just incase.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Awww im sure your Doc is just looking out for you sweetie. I had to have those pump up air boots on both legs after my RNY. ( for 14 hours) but they knew what they were doing. ;o) My feet only got a tad swollen. You will be fine honey.

my DH had one before surgery.  they place it through the groin but placed it in his chest.  he is going to keep it so he won't need one placed again after he is done losing weight and needs plastic surgery.
