SURGERY CANCELLED

Lisa,
The most disappointing thing is that nobody looked at your blood work before now.  It seems like your PCP should have seen the results and put up a red flag two weeks ago.   Then maybe you could have had an opportunity to see the Kidney Specialist and know where you stand.  I guess the doctors are so busy with their case load, they do not look at all of your reports until the day before surgery.   I wonder if they understand the mental toll all  the steps, waiting and disappointments this process has on us?   Still, you are of course better off that this test was discovered prior to your surgery.  I wish you all the best!  Pam

Hi Lisa -

I'm sorry you are going through this. It's like a double whammy. I can empathize because I have to go through twice the steps everyone else has to in order to get a surgery date because my liver phosphate levels are elevated and that COULD indicate a higher chance of liver or adrenal failure. HOWEVER, I didn't get an already scheduled date canceled. I'm sorry. :(

It'll be ok...like everyone said, it's better to correct anything in advance that you can. Hang in there. I know you feel jerked around, but you'll be posting your new surgery date on here before ya know it!

Lisa OMG I am sorry.  I just got on here tonight to send you a message and see if maybe I had one from you about tomorrow and to wish you luck.

I would be so upset too after all the prep and waiting already. I would definitely stay on top of them to get things rescheduled.  Such a mess.

Please keep us posted on how things progress and I will still be happy to be your angel AS SOON as you have your surgery,

(((((((HUGS)))))))

hang in there!

Nikki

Well, that sucks the big one!  So sorry, I know how upset you must be, especially to have been so close.  I'm sorry that they took so long to discover this issue but I'm glad that Dr. S is being safe in having you get things checked out first.

You know what they say....this too shall pass!

Lisa,

I am so sorry that this happened to you.  Thank goodness that your doctor is being very careful. I can totally relate how disappointed you feel.  My surgery was cancelled the day before because I had been diagnosed with strep throat. My dr was not taking any chances it could be very dangerous. I was so disappointed that I cried. I had to wait 1 month for my next surgery date.

I pray that when you do see the specialist they are able to pinpoint what's going on get it controlled and get you on tip top shape for surgery.

Wishing you all the best sweetie.  Please keep us posted.

((((((hugs)))))

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Lisa, I know right now you don't want to hear what a great Dr you have. I know when you look at things a little later you will agree that this slight delay is for the best. BUT WTF, you are right! I can't believe they called you at the last min. Did they not know your lab results before now?? Now, with that said, I do feel really sad for you, I know how disappointed you are. Believe me when I tell you that it's not over, he's not saying no, he's saying not now. I am sure you will have your creatine levels normalized really soon, and then you will get your date ASAP! Hang in there! My thoughts and prayers are with you. You can scream if you want, sometimes that can help! Cheer up!! Leslie:)

(((((((((((((((((((((LISA)))))))))))))))))))))))))) My heart is really going out to you sweetheart. Im so sorry. The only GOOD to come from this is that Dr S is DOING WHAT IS BEST! You do NOT want kidney failure honey. You really dont so just take a few breaths and get an appy with a Nephrologist and try again. I only have ONE working kidney and I had to repeat my creatine levels but I was fine. YOU WILL BE FINE!!!! Lets just hope its a SMALL and QUICK delay. Love yah pumpkin!!!

Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry to read this.  You have been put thru the ringer trying to get your VSG.  I know it's good that he found this and is having you address it before he proceeds, but yes, it would've been nice to know more than 24 hours in advance!
Good luck. Let us know if there's anything we can do.
