SURGERY CANCELLED

Dr. S just called me himself to tell me he has to cancel my surgery until I see a kidney specialist. Apparently my levels of creatine were too high. He doesn't want me going into kidney failure after surgery. WTF.... THEY SCHEDULE ME THIS MORNING AND WAIT UNTIL THE LAST POSSIBLE SECOND TO TELL ME THIS??????????????? I'm so upset.  So now, who knows when this will happen.

OMG Lisa I am so sorry. I know you must be so upset. Calm down if you can and know that this happened for some reason. I don't think you would want kidney failure either. I hope this can be resolved so you can proceed with your surgery. Hugs to you.

I guess it's for the best. Dr. S said with the levels I have, there is a 33% chance I could die from kidney failure after surgery. So now I have all of this to deal with. Sometimes I feel like the whole world is against me.

I am so sorry this is happening...  This is just one bump in the road to getting healthy!  On one hand the whole thing sucks, on the other you may have caught something potentially more troublesome down the road early and be able to fix it and move on with surgery AND a healthy life!

Good luck!!  Keep us posted, we are here and will listen when you need to talk, rant and just whine!  That is what we are here for - support EVERY step of the way!

I can't imagine your disappointment.  Hopefully, you will be able to see a Kidney Specialist and get an all clear.  I am curious - how long ago did you have your blood work done?     Pam

OMG Lisa I am so so so sorry!

I don't blame you for being upset.

BUT I have to say I admire Dr. S for taking your overall health into consideration.   He's treating the whole person not just your stomach and intestines...  THIS IS A GOOD THING.  33% is not a small percentage.

So did he suggest a kidney specialist or do you have to go find one?

pj, I had my bloodwork done on 9/26. It had to be within 30 days of surgery and I didn't want to cut it too close.  So I know they had to have seen it before TODAY for goodness sake.

Nessa, yes I'm going to see a kidney specialist that my PCP recommended. I called them today and they are having my records faxed over to them. They'll call me tomorrow, hopefully, with an appt date. They know my surgery is contingent on this so I hope they rush me in.
